My name is Matt (Hep) and my mates name is Christen (McGarry) and we are the founders of Your Mates Brewing Co.

Our story began in the small coastal town of Moffat Beach on the Sunshine Coast. I moved into a small brick shoebox with McGarry without knowing him for a bar of soap.

After a short time, we formed a strong mateship over common ground, drinking beers. We’d sit in the garage most night sinking a few of Mcgarry’s homebrews and talk about the Australian dream, marrying a chick who’s dad owned a brewery. One hungover, chickless morning we decided to take matters into our own hands. I mean it couldn’t be all that hard to start a brewery, could it?

We both quit our day jobs in 2013 and bomb-dived into the world of craft beer. Without any savings in the bank, we rented a small industrial shed and started our journey towards the dream. We didn’t want to sell our company to deep pocket investors, we wanted it done our way. This meant we had to run all aspects of our business ourselves. This took a lot of time but allowed us to perfect our beer recipes for the market. We may have been living below the poverty line at times, but we honestly couldn’t be happier working for ourselves in such an exciting industry.

Fast forward 4 years and Your Mates literally can’t keep up with demand! Although we need a lazy $1 million dollars to open our own larger brewery, we have been gypsy brewing at other breweries to keep up with demand. We now have two beers available (Larry & Donnie) and we’re brewing and selling over 5,000 litres of beer a month and serving in over 20 local venues.

The punters at our local watering holes are happy, but we’ve forgotten about old mate cooking his BBQ at home. He’s bloody suffering without his mate Larry there! We would love to get Larry into a Tinny and spread the good times around. But to take this mammoth leap we want you to come with us to get Larry and Donnie cans into more hands!

To get our cans into more hands, we’d love to rent a mobile canning machine which ‘can’ make our next step a reality. Any crowdfunds will go towards:

• Brewing 6,000L of beer
• Designing our Larry Tinnies, labels, packaging cartons etc
• Pre-purchase cans and other packaging material
• Hire Craft Punks for the day to can the beer
• Marketing and advertising

This year we hope to finally have enough money to put a deposit down for the big banks and get the funds we need to open and operate our own brewery. Until than, we just want to get some cans into your hands!
