ABOUT THIS CAMPAIGN
This Pozible crowdfunder is a LAST CHANCE to get one of my loving reproductions of the outfit worn by Kate Bush in her 1978 'red dress version' music video for her smash hit Wuthering Heights.
In 2016 and 2017 I ran Pozible campaigns like this to supply these costumes to men, women and children attending The Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever events around the world; to date there are approximately 1600 'Costumed Cathys' globally, and I have loved dressing them; but it is a huge unpaid commitment for me and so this will be my last hurrah!
This is an ALL OR NOTHING campaign, if we don't reach the target for me to afford to do a minimum run then THERE WILL BE NO MORE OF THESE COSTUMES, EVER, so if you want them PLEASE SPREAD THE WORD!
Time is very tight to ensure I get them to everyone well before the 14th July for this year's The Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever 2018.
REMEMBER: Your credit card or PayPal will ONLY be charged IF the target is reached; if the target isn't met you sadly won't get a costume but you will still have plenty of time to hit the op shops or break out the sewing machine.
WHY 200 COSTUMES?
In 2016 I made myself a costume ahead of the inaugural Wuther; suddenly all my friends wanted me to make them one too but it quickly became apparent that making individual bespoke costumes was time and cost prohibitive for me and I needed help.
Through a friend in the supply chain watchdog Clean Clothes I managed to find a small boutique garment manufacturer in Hong Kong that pays its staff a living wage, has humane hours and operates a safe workplace to help me make authentic looking, yet affordable, red Kate Bush Cathy costumes.
However in order to make it viable for them to do a manufacturing run I need a minimum of 200 dress orders.
Costume Rewards are available singularly or discounts apply if you chose the 2 or 5 costumes reward options.
I have also set up a Facebook page so if you are interested please 'Like' to know how this campaign is going and get updates.
ABOUT THE COSTUME
I creating the pattern for the 'Cathy' dress by analyzing the 1978 music video frame by frame, capturing dozens of screenshots to make sure I created an outfit as authentic to the original worn by Kate Bush as possible.
I settled on a mid weight chiffon as it has a lovely flow in dance and is slightly sheer. The beauty of the dress is that it is a wrap and therefore can adjust to many body shapes and sizes. The major consideration was length, so I created three sizes to fit across a spectrum of men, women and children.
The major challenge was the pixie hemline, which has required a quite tricky specialty machine cutting and sealing technique so as not to fray but also not need edging which would warp the points and distort movement.
The final dress is supremely comfortable and flattering and I am not shy to say that I am extremely proud of it. I hope you love as much as I do!
How to choose the correct size for your Cathy dress:
In designing the dress I tried very hard to make sure that it would cover the widest range of body shapes possible, because it is a wrap dress it can expand and contract, the arm holes can cater for big burly biceps and the cuffs have adjustable button holes to ensure that they fit different wrist sizes.
There are three free fit sizes:
SMALL - (pictured above) This option is suitable for child, diminutive and/or very petite Cathys, the hem will just touch the floor at 3ft 5" (107cm) and get to knee length at about 5ft (153cm). A. Back, shoulder to shoulder width is 35cm, B. Length from back neckline to hem is 98cm C. Armhole is 27cm, Cuff has 2 button holes. and the maximum Waist is 90cm (NB: As with all sizes if the dress is at it's maximum fit then the wearer may need to wear a red or black slip or long singlet or use a safety pin to ensure there is not too much chest or leg gaping).
MEDIUM - This option is suitable for mid sized Cathys, the hem will just touch the floor at 4ft 7" (144cm) and get to knee length on a slender build at about 6ft 2" (188cm). A. Back, shoulder to shoulder width is 42cm, B. Length from back neckline to hem is 119cm C. Armhole is 31cm, Cuff has 3 button holes and the maximum Waist is 104cm (NB: As with all sizes if the dress is at it's maximum waist fit then the wearer may need to wear a red or black slip or long singlet or use a safety pin to ensure there is not too much chest or leg gaping, in addition those with broad shoulders or ample bosoms should consider going to the large size).
LARGE - This option is suitable for tall and shapely Cathys, the hem will just touch the floor at 5ft 3" (161cm) and get to knee length on a slender build at about 6ft 4" (195cm). A. Back, shoulder to shoulder width is 48cm, B. Length from back neckline to hem is 125cm C. Armhole is 32cm, Cuff has 3 button holes. and the maximum Waist is 124cm (NB: As with all sizes if the dress is at it's maximum waist fit then the wearer may need to wear a red or black slip or long singlet or use a safety pin to ensure there is not too much chest or leg gaping).
ABOUT THE MOST WUTHERING HEIGHTS DAY EVER
On the 16th July 2016 all over the world people of all genders and ages dressed up in red dresses, red tights, and roses and gathered in public spaces around the world to dance en mass to Kate Bush's timeless classic Wuthering Heights.
The event was called The Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever and it was inspired by UK performance artists Shambush's joyous interpretive dance on May 25th 2013 to the Kate Bush's 1978 music video for her hit Wuthering Heights, when over 300 Cathys descended on Stanmer Park in Brighton, in what was then The Ultimate Kate Bush Experience.
In July 2016 over 10,000 participants joined global Facebook events being independently hosted in ★ Montreal ★Atlanta ★ Sydney ★ Tel Aviv ★ Berlin ★ Brisbane ★ Uppsala ★ Perth ★ Malmö ★ Lisbon ★ Copenhagen ★Oslo ★ Hobart ★Adelaide ★ Amsterdam ★ Lancaster ★ Wellington NZ ★ Blue Mountains NSW ★ The original Shambush Ultimate Kate Bush Experience in London and my hometown of Melbourne we had the largest turnout with well over 2000 Cathy's dressed up and dancing!
This year The Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever will be held on Saturday 14th July 2018 and our hope is that it will be a special one as it is not only a celebration of 40 years since the song's release but also will be an early celebration of Kate Bush's 60th and Emily Bronte's 200th shared birthdays on the 30th July.
Search on Facebook to see if there is an event being held near you.

ABOUT INTERNATIONAL DELIVERY
For our international backers I will work out the best value postage service to get your package to you safely and in time, I will credit the amount it would be for Australian postage and let you know the difference to be paid, if we make our target.
I strongly urge international backers to try join up with friends and then I can save you all on the postage costs by delivering all outfits to a single address and then they can be handed out from there.
I am providing these costumes as rewards at cost plus customs duty and tax charges, it is not a profiteering exercise, and I donate many hours of my time in organising costume dispatch as well as the event in July; sadly 2018 is going to be my last year organising and hosting this event because I need to focus that energy on my family and business.
The target of $15000 will cover all of the out of pocket expenses for me to have a minimum of 200 costumes made as well as part of the funds needed to help me cover some of the costs involved in planning and staging The Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever.
Whilst I am offering a limited number of BELOW COST single $48 outfits to kick things off, I encourage backers to check in on their local event; Facebook makes it very easy to see if you have mutual friends going; so get in touch with your friends and arrange to go in together for the 'Dance With Somebody' reward, that way you all save even if the early bird costumes are all gone.
Thanks for your support and I hope to wuther with you on 14th July 2018!
Viva La Bush!
If I reach the target goal of $15000 then I will be able cover my Minimum Quantity Order (MOQ) to supply at cost plus customs duty and GST charges plus Pozible fees, quality reproductions of Kate Bush's outfit as worn in her 1978 music film clip for her hit Wuthering Heights and hopefully cover some of the expenses involved in planning and hosting The Most Wuthering Heights Day Ever at Edinburgh Gardens on 14th July 2018!
My major obstacle is time! If people want this cosplay to wear on the 14th July 2018 at their local event then I will need all orders in by the 2nd May 2018 when this campaign closes, so I can make my bulk order and allow enough time for manufacture and delivery so I can post them off to all corners of the globe to arrive in time for all backers to be Cathy'd up on the big day!
So please spread the word!
