Hi everyone my name is Glen Burston and with my Wife Jo [wildlife Veterinary Nurse], we have established Maroo Wildlife Refuge Inc [MWR] which is situated in the beautiful Southern Forest of Western Australia and is also a registered not for profit organisation.

We are registered wildlife rehabilitators and approved by Department of Parks and Wildlife who we work closely with.  

For the last 8 years and with the help of dedicated team of volunteers, we all have worked quietly building the foundations for a centre that specialises in the Treatment, Rehabilitation and Release of our most endangered and vulnerable Fauna.

Making the move from Perth, to semi-retire and persue our passion for saving Western Australia's iconic species on the beautiful and private 160acre bush setting we have established an education facility, specifically designed enclosures, but we now require a "Recovery Room" with-in the Clinic Shed. 

MWR was established out of a need for a dedicated, professional and experienced centre, Living in one of the most diverse spots and the last standing ground for many of these endangered species. It is critical that we do all we can to help them not disappear forever.

We have built a facility that specifically caters for Brush tail bettongs (woylies), numbats, ringtail possums, chudich, phascogales, quokkas, pygmy possums, mardo and all species of Black Cockatoos and much more. But how fast is a Woylie I hear you say.

Our enclosures have been purposely built by myself

We are now looking for your generous support in having our "Recovery Room" completed. 

This room is vital for critical care patients and orphaned young. The room will be fully insulated, heated/cooled and house our temperature controlled hospital boxes. 

At the moment a lot of our critical patients are having to be brought up to the house during extreme weather which is not ideal and that's why we need a quiet environment away from day to day noises and most of all Your help.

As well as supporting our Volunteers and Education programs our new Recovery room will value add to our plans to allow us to offer students the opportunity to stay at MWR and work with us and experience wildlife conservation in a natural bush environment helping the future leaders in conservation and rehabilitation. Due to the nature of this valuable and important work the Refuge has quarantine practices in place and is able to offer best practices of professional care and standards. 

With the help of lottery West we have been able to secure 75% of the money for our build but we need your help to finish this awesome project.

This cost is made up of the following-

Additional costs not covered in Grant - $1500

2 x purpose built Cabinets for Hospital box's and first aid storage $2000

Additional fit out of Recovery room including shelving, storage and labour. $1000

Any moneys in surplus from this project will go back into the day to day running costs of food and vet bills. It costs approx. $700 to raise one orphaned joey or treat a burns patient to release stage.
