WILD VACANCIES is an interactive Live Art experience to help you rediscover nature in the urban environment. After turning off your technology, we guide you on a silent walk to a mystery location. Once there, through a unique combination of moving meditation, observation and performance we give you tools to discover a heightened awareness of nature. It’s playful, it’s mindful and it soothes your soul.

Finding simplicity in life in our complex, digitally connected and fast-paced world is a growing challenge. Health research convincingly shows us one thing. More than ever, we need to SWITCH OFF, RELAX and SIMPLIFY our lives. It is here that mother nature is our saviour.  

Wild Vacancies is a new artistic collaboration that is organically inspired by nature to create sustainable ways of living.  It will equip you with practical skills to thrive and live well in the modern world, through tools that enhance your mindset of appreciation and stillness.  

For this premiere Fringe Festival event, we invite you to learn to slow down, take your time and view a city space through the calm lenses of nature and quietness.  We are bringing the show to Melbourne Fringe to reach a larger audience.

Our mission is to give people the tools, skills and mindset to more effectively connect with nature.  We need your help to share these tools with a larger audience.

OUR TEAM

Artistic Director - Sally Guildford

Environmentalist, actress and creative director, Sally's talents in movement, voice and teaching lead her to successfully develop WILD VACANCIES at the 2017 Hillscene LIVE festival. Growing ever since we have a team of six artists expected for the Fringe.

Writer/Performer - David Mark Farrington

Queer diversity actor, eco-writer, creative producer and artistic director/founder of the Universal Difference theatre company.

Producer -Sandy Morrison.

Sandy brings a lifetime's work in the arts/media, sustainability events, training and executive administration to professional arts management.

A SMALL AMOUNT WILL MAKE A SUSTAINABLE IMPACT

With your generous help, we will gratefully use your funds donated to this campaign to fully develop our project. This means nurturing it from a pilot to become more sustainable and accessible for a larger, more diverse audience in the city. We especially need support for:

-Printing of postcards. Stunning macro photos of nature specific to each local site. We will be using recycled paper and eco friendly ink - because we care ($360)

-Sustainably produced print materials for closed captioning which provides accessibility for deaf people ($100)

-A_Tistic disability accessibility consultancy ($200)

-Documentation of the project for future promotion and development ($130)

-Facebook Advertising ($180)

-Insurance ($200)

-Phone box design and creation ($165)

-Security box for storing mobile phones ($45)

-Pozible admin fee ($120)

TOTAL FUNDS : $1500

All additional funds will allow performers to be paid, as this is a real profit-share project.  It will also allow for ongoing publicity and development of future shows in Melbourne, nationally and, we envision, internationally.

WHY SUPPORT US ?

It's tricky for an experiment to realise its true potential without support – so every bit helps ! WILD VACANCIES evolved from two dedicated people, a shoestring budget, and no resources. This working actress single mum, and a recovering burnt-out writer discovered that not only did the world like their idea, but actually really wanted it. Our show will always go on, but, developing high standards of work, making the show fully accessible and using sustainable products requires funding.  Which is where you - our wonderful supporters - come in. We want to make Wild Vacancies the best version it can be!
