VDB record label - Bohemia album
Can you help VAN DIEMEN'S BAND create Tasmania’s very own recording label?
WHAT IS THE PROJECT?
Hot on the success of two recently released recording projects, Van Diemen’s Band, Tasmania's baroque supergroup Van Diemen’s Band will launch Tasmania’s own record label, ‘VDB’.
Our first release will be a recording of our critically acclaimed ‘Bohemia’ programme which garnered rave audience reviews and multiple requests to produce a studio recording of the repertoire.
To bring this unique project to fruition, Van Diemen’s Band needs additional financial support and we are asking you to consider donating.
All funds donated to this project will be matched dollar-for-dollar by Creative Partnerships Australia.
Van Diemen’s Band now has three major album releases under its belt, including its latest for European label BIS. After the past year at home reflecting on the cultural vibrancy of our state, we have decided that it is time for Tasmania to have its very own label. While this label will be a platform to release our own recordings, we will also be releasing the work of other artists within a variety of musical genres.
For our brand new label, we have an excellent team of recording producers and engineers to work with, including the International Emmy and three-times ARIA award winning producer, Christopher Lawrence.
DOUBLE YOUR MONEY!
As with our previous International Recording Project to fund the soon-to-be-released recording of the Handel Concerti Grossi Opus 3, this project has been awarded in-principle matched funding through the Creative Partnerships PLUS 1 program. That means that every dollar we raise here will be matched dollar for dollar by them! So your donation will be effectively doubled!
WHY IS VDB ASKING YOU TO DONATE?
The classical recording industry is not what it was even 10 years ago. That's why many of the major ensembles have their own labels or choose to do their recordings during live performances.
Setting up a local record label is a perfect opportunity to undertake our first significant self-release of an album. This will allow Van Diemen’s Band not only to produce high quality recordings of its own work, but also to provide a platform for other local artists to release their work through the ‘VDB’ label.
HOW CAN YOUR SUPPORT OF THIS PROJECT MAKE A REAL DIFFERENCE?
By supporting this campaign, you are not only helping to fund our first self-produced album, but also helping Van Diemen’s Band set up a Tasmanian-based recording label through which the work of other Australian artists will be represented.
Become a part of the important community of philanthropists helping to nurture the arts in Australia!
WHEN WILL YOU HEAR THE RESULTS?
“Bohemia”, the first recording on the new “VDB” label, will be recorded in October this year, with an anticipated release in mid-2022.
HOW DO YOU DONATE?
Choose from one of the many rewards we have on offer including pre-ordered copies of the CD. We will be accepting pledges of any amount and every dollar you give us will be DOUBLED by Creative Partnerships Australia once our target is reached! We can also accept tax deductible donations if you choose not to receive a reward for your pledge. We thank you for your support!

Budget Overview
We’re not only creating a new record label, but also the first record to be released on that label. The money we are raising here will help to subsidise the costs involved with launching the label itself, as well as employing all the artists and creatives involved in the production of its first release. In addition to artist fees, costs covered include recording production costs such engineering, mixing and mastering, and album production costs including design, printing, and online platform management.
The money we raise through this Pozible campaign will be doubled by Creative Partnerships Australia through their Plus 1 funding program. So every $1 becomes $2!
