Black Phoenix Publishing Collective gives students of editing and publishing the opportunity to gain industry experience by publishing books. Many of the students live in regional and remote areas where such opportunities are non-existant. For more about Black Phoenix Publishing Collective, go here: http://www.blackphoenixpublishing.com/

About the Project

This project is the editing and publishing of a fantasy novella by prolific, young fantasy author K.J. Taylor who has kindly handed over her novella manuscript (The Price of Magic) to be turned into a book by the students under the guidance of experienced editors and publishers. This project will give the members of the collective, all emerging editors and book professionals, valuable real world experience.

About the Book

The novella is a work of fantasy for young adults. Here's the book blurb:

Big things are expected of Pip. Can he deliver?

Magic is all around him and he is expected to be a great mage, but the path before Pip isn’t simple. Will he fulfil his parents’ expectations? Will he fulfil his own?

In Pip's world, it is only those born with defects or deformities who are magical.

To address this challenge clear communication strategies have been put in place. Furthermore, the Director of Black Phoenix, Dr. Dallas John Baker, has many years of experience in both teaching and editing & publishing and will oversee the project.
