Sydney Loves Fishing - the video
Please help us to produce a video proving that recreational fishing in Sydney Harbour is sustainable.
More recreational fishing lockouts are threatened for anglers between Newcastle and Wollongong and in Sydney Harbour.
Anglers, spearfishers, professional guides, and media personalities have joined forces to "Say NO to recreational fishing lockouts!"
Volunteers at Sydney Loves Fishing have been lobbying the government, collecting data, engaging the angling community and communicating with the public to try to keep your fishing spots open.
More details about our Sydney Loves Fishing campaign can be found at www.sydneylovesfishing.com.au.
Update on our project
Please continue to donate up until 22 December. Although we have reached the goal to pay for the production of our video, we would appreciate a final push for donations that will allow the Sydney Loves Fishing Team to work with fishing guides and divers to do a second lot of filming showing how fantastic and healthy the Harbour is and what we will lose if we don’t fight any closures the NSW Government might be planning in 2017.
Our new benchmark is $3000, but now we have reached our initial goal of $2000 we have given the go-ahead to the production team to start editing the first video, so many thanks at all who donated. To those who still want to donate, help us produce our second video!
How The Funds Will Be Used
We are working on a video to show that the recreational fishery is healthy and sustainable and to debunk some of the myths being used to push lockouts. Professional video footage has been shot both above and below the water to give us up-to-date images of what we see every day as anglers.
We need you to help us by donating a modest amount to complete the video processing and production. Once completed the video will be shared on websites and social media.
- Approximately $1500 of your donations will be used to meet video editing costs.
- The remaining funds will be used for paid promotion on social media and website expenses.
- Extra funds, if received, will be used to take more video footage and continue with a further campaign to prevent recreational fishing lockouts in the region.
Be assured that if our target of $2000 is not met, no donation will be transferred from your account.
Your donation will be received by the Recreational Fishing Alliance of NSW, an incorporated not-for-profit association registered in NSW. A full account of donations received and how the funds have been spent will be shown on our websites www.sydneylovesfishing.com.au and also on www.rfansw.com.au.
The Challenges
We need to raise the target amount as soon as possible so that we can complete and distribute the video by the end of December 2016.
