Firstly Thank you! I appreciate you having a look, I hope you like what you find. We have reached the minimum goal figure so this project is rolling to the printers as we speak. To secure your first print run copy please pledge.

This book is dedicated to the Kulin Nation, Koorie People and Bunurong Community. 40 years research 20 years of photography over 100 plants, 250 pages with multiple uses for food and Survival. The information is based on the decades of passionate field work. With the realisation that plants can offer everything we need to survive. Aboriginal people have practised sustainable living for 10's of thousands of years but 200 years ago their lives were interupted. Not many more so than Melbourne's Bunurong community. The colonial government and the new immigrants didnt often stop and ask about exact plant use and this information was mostly lost. But the plants are all still there so this was the focus of the research compiled in this book.

"This publication collated by Jamie Simpson will be a sought-after reference for anyone who wants to learn more about Native Flora and uses on Bunurong Land and South-East Australia, including North East Tasmania. Jamie has had a deep interest in Aboriginal bush foods and plants for most of his adult life. These plants are an important part of Aboriginal culture for food, fibre, baskets, bowls technology, spears, waddies, canoe making, cultural objects and housing (huts and shelters) and these uses are an important part of this book.”  Auntie Dyan Summers Bunurong Elder September 2017

4 Species of Native mint feature in this book. All have significant environmental and commercial value.

Murnong Roots. A plant that used to be found across the South-East. Very important plant to the traditional owners.

This business started in 1998 as Gondwana Permaculture, later evolving into Gondwana Walkabout then Walkabout Education

We all eat a lot of root vegetables, so did the Indigenous people. There is a full chapter on edible roots found beneath the soil.

The earliest colonialist on the Mornington Peninsula identified this native Saltbush as a significant food source,

This is from the front page of the Ranges Trader in 1998

The book is a compilation of 40 years of research and 20 years of photography. It is the only known comprehensive southern bushfoods book and the only bushfood book to include surivial plant uses, combined these plants have provided southern indigenous people with everything we need to survive.

I welcome schools and groups to pledge bulk orders as the first run shall be delivered mid December and the second run may not be out until February 2018. This book compliments the school programs I have been delivering to school groups and community organisations,

Potential Challenges

Getting the word out there to the people who may want a copy. I encourage every body to share this link and support this project. It is more a story from the bush than about the bush. We can all connect to our environment and I hope this book increases the percieved "Value" of the natural envirionment. This book represents the voice of the plants which have shown me the many offerings to support our survival as harmonious beings.
