In a nice park, in a nice city, two nice couples try very, very hard to be nice to each other while the sound of ice cream trucks (wait, no) ambulances (nope!) the Global Financial Crisis screams into town. She Rode Horses Like the Stock Exchange is an absurdly funny and terrifying ride through downsized, foreclosed America.  A fresh new play about gender expectations, possession and loneliness, money and ego.

The funds will be used to offset the initial costs of publishing the script.  Purchasing the ISBN, designing the cover, formatting the document etc. but these are raw costs kept to an absolute minimum by 8th Buffalo Press.

The real value of this model is that the majority of the money goes straight to towards the Sydney production of She Rode Horses Like the Stock Exchange at the Kings Cross Theatre in October.  

This means that your funds will contribute towards covering rent of the venue, buying materials for the set, costumes, and assisting our publicity campaign..  These are the hard costs of creating independent theatre that must be covered before the artists themselves can be paid. 

Ultimately your donation can ensure a larger portion of box office income will be transferred directly to the artists themselves, for their presentation of this exciting new work in Sydney!

8th Buffalo Press’s model for printing new Australian plays directly confronts one of the biggest challenges facing new writing today.

We believe that the most exciting new Australian playwriting is taking place on our independent stages, and this means that almost everything goes under resourced and unpublished- which makes a first life hard and a second unlikely. 

By publishing and selling the scripts as part of a fundraising campaign, funds can be funnelled into making sure that the premiere production of a script is better resourced, raising the chance for a second life of the production.

We are absolutely passionate that this is an exciting and innovative way to continue to support vibrant writing and independent theatre in Australia.
