A collaboration between Filfy Rish and Fashion Chelsea.
 ‘Opulence’ is the frugal hedonists interpretation of fashion and luxury.
We have forced our inclusion to indulgent ideals within the means we can acquire; with a specific focus on using fabric that would otherwise be landfill among oxymoron’s of diamanté kitchen gloves and Chanel balaclavas.  
We represent a twisted reflection of fashion and internet culture through manipulating concepts of gender identity and sustainable clothing, resulting in a perverse and surprising panoply.

The story of us:

Chelsea and Hayley discovered each other dumpster diving for Bratz Dolls in a dark, dank ally one faithfull night. They gots a talkin about their purpose in life and the fashion they want to bring to the world and quickly realised working together is not only a good idea but essential. 

Chelsea Hickman is an aspiring high-fashion designer currently completing her Honours in Fashion Design at RMIT. Originally from Tasmania, she is now based in Melbourne. Her work to date has included concepts around data analysis, gender neutrality, 90s suburban Australia and social enterprise.

Hayley Van Ree is the birth giver of electric new fashion label Filfy Rish that debuted at Beaut Club in May, 2017.  Originally trained in sculpture at VCA, Hayley now works in an experimental fashion space with a focus on hand-made, recycled and repurposed items.

Our funds will be used to create an amazing Melbourne fashion experiece (and a moment in history) for all those in attendance. 

Our main costs are for getting the venue up to scratch, turning a non-space into a glam space and paying people who get on board to bring the night to life.

This is a not for profit event, so all funds raised here will go directly to the show! 

This show will likely be the best and cheapest you have ever seen. As frugal hedonists, we seek no profit - just to indulge our audience in a lavish experience of alternative fashion in an attempt to enrich and inspire Melbourne fashionistas. Although as scamp and stingy as we may be, unavoidable costs lie within set design and paying creative participants for their time (make up artists, music designers etc.). We are both contributing as much as we can afford, but we need your help to get us over the line with these additional fees.
