Kinematic: Live at Bakehouse
Rehearsal video filmed October 2016 by the band at Bakehouse - a tempter of what is to come!
Original campaign description below:
Kinematic are a Melbourne-based 4 piece band. They’ve been making music for a while and it's something they love doing. Unsigned and fiercely independent, Kinematic have released 4 albums – Time & Place (2005), The 38th Parallel (2007), Kites (2009) and Kinecism (2014) – all available on Bandcamp, Spotify, and iTunes. They have a small but dedicated army of fans spread across Australia and the world.
Kinematic’s songs have turned up on radio, podcasts and TV shows in Australia and overseas, and fans on three continents have made music videos for them. Now they want to try making one themselves, for the fans, particularly those far and wide who have never had the chance to see their amazing live show.
This project will fund a one night only live show at Bakehouse Studios (Melbourne) and the recording, mastering and release of that show as a CD/DVD.
It is anticipated that the live show itself will be recorded on a Saturday night in February 2017 subject to band/studio availability. The CD and DVD will be created and released in early 2017. Please watch this page for more updates as the project takes shape.
How The Funds Will Be Used
Kinematic is planning to record and film a special live performance in front of an intimate audience (on a Saturday evening in February 2017) at Melbourne institution and rehearsal studio, Bakehouse. Bakehouse is Kinematic's favourite studio and the studio the band first came together more than a decade ago. The film will be distributed online and also as a limited edition CD/DVD set.
You can support Kinematic and get your name on the film credits by committing to any of the packages, ranging from $25 to $500. The higher priced packages include attendance at the actual recording, so you can play your part in in creating the film, while getting to brag to your mates that you were actually there.
Funding will be used as follows (approximate numbers):
$1,500 Hire of Bakehouse
$750 Cameras, crew
$250 Pre-production
$500 Post-production
$2,000 Printing and CD/DVD pressing
Any funds raised beyond the minimum $5,000 will be used to pay more suppliers at commercial rates rather than relying on favours and to promote the CD/DVD once it is completed.
The Challenges
Like many other independent bands, Kinematic doesn't have the resources to record their live shows with multiple cameras and full production/mastering. This project will allow Kinematic to capture a lasting record of their contribution to the Melbourne music scene.
