At Grinta we want to shine a light on aspects of cycling which interest us - the pleasure, the pain, the ecstasy and the agony.

These things come in different packages and take place in different arenas, depending on whether you are a racer, tourer, ultra-endurance rider, grand fondo fanatic, photographer, frame-builder, mechanic, sponsor, bike guide, bike-restorer, soigneur or roadside fan…but they all have two things in common – the bike and passion.

When we combine bikes and passion we drive ourselves to the limit, we test our toughness and ability to persevere in the face of adversity. Our darkest moments on the bike make the brightest moments shine brighter.

At our limits we battle self-doubt yet we are humbled by the fact that we share the exact sensations of pain with millions who have gone before, from world champions to weekend warriors. We know for certain that Peter Sagan feels the same hurt in his legs as the last rider in the Gran Fondo Stelvio and that Pierre Rolland’s hand bleeds just like ours when it is driven into the bitumen.

And if all this is just a bit too serious…just enjoy the beautiful images and stories in this first issue of Grinta, as we hold up a mirror to our beautiful sport.

The support we've had bringing this project to life has been fantastic, Australia's best cycling photographers have come onboard to bring Grinta to life; Beardy McBeard shot the cover at this year's Tour,  Andy White of FYXO fame, Jeff Curtes, Kirsty Baxter, Andy Rogers from Fame & Spear, Eamon Fitzpatrick and Chris Milliman rounds out our featured shooters.

Grinta is Italian for "TOUGH"
In Dutch, the word for gravel is "GRINT"
Grinta conjures up visions of someone who has gravel in their gut.

Producing a high quality magazine is an expensive exercise; collating the articles, the photography, editing, layout and design and the printing costs involved in producing a 160 page magazine on high quality paper stocks. Grinta is printed on 130gsm A1 grade matt art stock with a 350gsm matt art laminated cover and a perfect bound spine - a magazine that you will want to keep and hold on to for years to come.

We're launching this Pozible campaign to rally enough pre-sales to cover the balance of our print costs, we've had a great level of support from our advertisers, but producing a magazine of this quality is an expensive exercise. We need your upfont support to help cover the costs of print and delivery. 

Bringing a project like this to fruition has it's challenges and the biggest challenge is also the most obvious, reaching enough cycling enthusiasts who appreciate and value the pleasure and feel of a quality magazine in their hands and are prepared to pay for that product.

We aim to raise the standard and quality of Australia's cycling press and the launch issue of Grinta goes a long way in the right direction. This magazine will get you amped to ride, to travel, to explore with your bike as your two wheeled companion.
