"Golden Boy" is the sophomore album by "Skyscraper" Stan Woodhouse. Its half dark, half light. Half narrative, half confessional. Half hopeless, half hopeful. I want to do things a little differently this time around and present the album as I intended it; in two halves. A double EP; Golden Boy volumes I and II. Each EP will be made up of 5 tracks, and will differ greatly in tone. Volume I is heavier, darker and character driven. Vol II is brighter and more autobiographical. 

These are songs about morality. It has been a time of reflection on what it means to do right; on crimes of action and crimes of neglect. On the comfort and responsibilities of manhood, money and privilege. 

If this seems bleak, I apologise. I promise I've tried to deliver some light amongst the dark. I've explored my understanding of songcraft, carving out the tidiest niche I can lyrically and melodically and I think its my best work yet. 

Recording has already begun out at Woodstock Studios, Balaclava; the same room that produced "Last Year's Tune".  Fans of that album and of the live show can look forward to more shimmering guitar work form long time offsider, cuzzie bro and fellow Golden Boy Oskar Herbig who with these new songs has launched into a territory all of his own. Maritn Schilov returns on the bass and all three of us are backed by a rotating cast of uncomfortably talented guests.

Golden Boy

Golden Boy Vol I and II is being recorded at Woodstock Studios in Balaclava with Richard Stolz in the driver's seat. Richard is a world class engineer with ears like something out of the Marvel universe. Much of the money raised in this campaign will be used to harness the power of Stolz and his magic room. Some funding from from a generous patron (you know who you are, legend) and all profits from my punishing solo tours are also contributing to the overall cost. The budget of the album and its release is in excess of twenty grand. This campaign will hopfully raise around half of it.

There is the small risk of the project timeline blowing out. This is the case with all recording projects, I plan to avoid it with extensive pre-production and by working with a small team (Richard, Oskar and myself) to keep all the other cooks out of the kitchen.

Like all independent artists I primarily struggle with two things; money and profile. Both of these are thorns in the side of creative process but together we can ease the sting. Help me get the word out, share this campaign, show it to your mum (I've always been great with mums), show it to your neighbour, anyone who might want to jump on board.
