First a play; then a musical; now - the cast recording!

Our new Australian Musical enjoyed a sellout performance of 4 shows at Westside Mooroopna after premiering on ANZAC Day, April 25th 2018. Supported by Riverlinks and produced by Shepparton Theatre Arts Group in conjunction with Goulburn Valley Concert Orchestra, this musical is jam-packed with wonderful songs from heart-wrenching ballads, to jazz, and even Ravel’s Bolero. 

Requests for repeat performances and for access to this music has prompted us to create a cast recording of this show to expand its reach, preserve the music, and put the town of Dookie on the map!

Our overall budget is $9,500, of which we are hoping to raise at least half via this Pozible campaign.

The major cost is for recording time, editing, mixing and mastering, which makes up over $7,000 of our costs. For a 20-track album involving so many people, we believe that's actually a very reasonable figure. We've got the amazingly talented local engineer Hugh Drum on board to record, and the project will keep costs down by recording at several venues around Shepparton generously donated to us (that is, there's no expensive studio time to pay).

The rest of the money will be going into small gifts for our artists. With 16 singers, 8 musicians, and a 25+ piece orchestra, we would love to pay everybody what they're worth (which is, a million dollars each!) but this just isn't feasible. This is a community arts project, bringing various members of the Goulburn Valley arts communities together once again, just like the play and the musical did in 2016 and 2018. We will make sure a small gift (and plenty of food!) will be provided to our musicians and actors.
