G'day!

My name is Claire Anne Taylor and I come from the bush in Tasmania’s remote North-West. I was born in our family barn alongside my five siblings and we were raised on a healthy dose of love, veggies from the garden and music. Oh, sweet music! Some of my earliest memories are of sitting beside our open fireplace listening and watching intently as my Father strummed the guitar, my Mother sang joyously and my brothers and sister danced and stomped the floorboards. Music was the heart of our home and it is little wonder that I picked up the guitar from an early age and started writing songs.

I am a singer, songwriter and guitarist and I write soulful folk songs that explore both the beautiful and dark elements of life. Last year I released my debut album, 'Elemental', and I spent most of the year touring and playing shows to support the release. It was such an incredible experience to share my songs with everyone for the first time and it felt truly humbling to hear from those who have been moved by my music in some way. While I was on the road touring, I was also writing a lot of new material and I now have a heap of new songs that I really want to record so that I can share them with you all. I feel that these songs are my best work so far and I would so love to be able to make another album. So I am doing this crowdfunding campaign to raise the funds I need get back into the studio and record a new album.

My dream is to record at Inky Studios in Byron Bay with Jordan Power who is an incredible producer and engineer. He has recorded artists such as Angus Stone, Kasey Chambers and Xavier Rudd. Jordan’s work is outstanding and I know that I will be able to work with him to achieve a sound that is beautiful, honest and true to the songs. I have been performing with Matt Bone (double bass) and Freyja Hooper (drums) in recent times and I would love to have both of these legends as the rhythm section on my new album. They are both incredible musicians and I just love the way they approach my songs and I know that they will be amazing on the record! The plan is to spend time working on pre-production in April and then head into the studio to record at the beginning of May. 

The response I received from the release of my debut album 'Elemental' was phenomenal and I feel that producing new recorded material that is of a high quality is a crucial step that I need to make in order to further develop my profile as a recording artist and take my career to the next level. It would mean the world to me to make this new album because these songs mean a lot to me and I believe that they will move people and this is always the main goal hope to achieve through my music.

I am working hard to save money and put it towards covering additional costs of the album. Any additional money raised over my goal of $18,000 will go towards covering the remainder of these costs plus CD pressing, album artwork, promotion, publicity and touring costs.

The biggest challenge faced by independent artists like myself is trying to stay afloat and record new material at the same time when the costs involved in recording are so great. The reaity is that if I don’t make the target and I am unable to raise the funds, I will have to put my album on hold and it may take me another year or more of saving to raise the rest of the funds needed to record it.

Crowdfunding is a bit like asking a big family to pitch in to help get your project across the line. So I’m calling on you, my big beautiful family of friends, strangers and supporters of music, to help get me there.
