In 2015 whilst living in the Philippines I began photographing urban and provincial basketball courts. What started as a casual documentary project turned into an extensive examination of the fading remnants of colonisation and the strengthened contemporary identity of the burgeoning nation. Whilst the construction of physical basketball apparatus proves to be a fascinating subject alone, the series also serves to highlight the gross interference of larger corporations and wealthy oligarchs on staking communal areas, with the makeshift courts remaining one of the last bastions of truly claimed public space.

I have collated the series into a book which I am aiming to launch this year. Whilst self publishing the book affords me complete creative control over the project, it does come at a significant expense. I have created this crowd funding campaign to assist in the up front cost of the initial print run and give friends and family an opportunity to pre-purchase the book. I have also created rewards that include editioned photographic prints from the series.

The publication is a 128 page colour book, limited to 100 copies and printed on high quality paper stock in Melbourne, Australia. I plan to launch the book along with a small exhibition in October.

Initial quotations for the print run indicate that the book printing alone will cost +$3,500.

Any additional funds will be put into optional design enhancements and helping with the book launch.

If the target is not met, then I will look at an even shorter print run.
