Zulya Kamalova

Dear friends! 

My name is Zulya Kamalova and I am a musician and a composer. 

I invite you to support my new Tatar-language project. A new album entitled "Alty kon yaratu" (Six Days Loving) will be written to the poetry of a wonderful Tatar poet Yoldyz Minnullina. The production will be carried out by myself and Dutch-French musician Michiel Hollanders. This is a song we recorded together recently. I hope you like it!

This project is dedicated to my native Tatar language. I grew up in Udmurt republic in a Tatar family, and my knowledge of Tatar comes mainly from my grandmother Hadicha and trips to the villages. But my Tatarness has soaked into my soul with songs, traditional dishes and village festivals!

Many years ago I came to live in Australia and it's here that I had realised the importance of my roots even more. I began singing in Tatar and released several albums in Tatar and also in Russian and English.  I developed my own approach which expressed my new Tatar Australian identity in a unique way. These works received high critical acclaim as many appreciated my new sound and fresh interpretation of the music. 

The word “yaratu” (“loving”) can also mean “creation”. This is amazing and serendipitous! I encourage you to become a part of this album, create it together with us! Your contribution will enable us to make it happen in the best possible way!

The money raised will be used towards some of the recording, mixing and  mastering of the album and also the pressing and the graphic art. I have collected some funds through a Russian platform already but it was difficult for my non-Russian fans to contribute through that platform that's why I am running a small campaign here as well.
