Protohub is a totally self funded, multifaceted, design teaching & learning outcome, developmental idea in the making.......Phew!

We are aiming to be the creative hub for designers and artists alike. To work on and express ideas. Interact and collaborate, develop and critique works. Creating a collaborative community that everyone can share in.
All this under the one roof in a user friendly, central location that is attainable to every one at any level.

A community to learn new skills, create contacts, share an ever increasing knowledge base pertaining to the industry.

Theories and ideals pertaining to environmental and sustainable design are to be at the forefront of the teachings and lessons at Protohub. Materials and their uses, processes to create and recycle are of the highest priorities involved with design today.

Employing an ethic more attuned to the passion of creativity at a low cost to all, rather than being driven by the all mighty dollar. We have over the past eight months achieved a good starting foundation for this project. Since the middle of November 2012, working with and enlisting the help of the council of the city of Sydney (who own the building that we currently reside in) and joining forces with a great social base of friends, family and industry professionals. We have thus far built an exciting workshop,

& showroom space,

for all to share. We currently have 4 great resident designers plus myself and more space available. Protohub also offers a MEMBERSHIP opportunity, where artists and or designers have the option to come in part time at their convenience at next to no cost, work on their projects, borrowing tools and machinery and tap into the creative pool of knowledge on hand...But Protohub still needs to become so much more and soon! We are always working on new ideas and creating new ways of developing Protohub. We are constantly working on and updating the Protohub website, sending monthly newsletters with information, news and exciting events and stories, development of new prototypes and designs. Organsizing various events in either the arts, design, creative, music

or all of the above. Workshops to revive the lost and dying arts of the hands-on creative process, such as metal turning, welding, casting, ceramics and other processes to name but a few, which are all but disappearing due to new computerized techniques and off shore manufacturing.

The Challenges

Reaching target is always going to be a challenge, but with the amount of work and effort we have already put in, work to keep pushing during the campaign and with the kindness and help from strangers and friends alike we are really hoping to build, we think it is totally attainable!
