The Velvetones' debut album! 

We launched ourselves on to the Australian a cappella scene in 2018 and have very quickly become established as one of the country’s leading a cappella ensembles. At the 2018 National a cappella awards AUSACA, we walked away as National Champions and Band Champions, receiving special awards for Best Jazz Song, Best Comedy Song, and Audience Favourite, and we have received glowing reviews at the Melbourne International Singers Festival, Adelaide Fringe Festival, Voices in Paradise (QLD) and Tasmania's Festival of Voices.

 


With a sound like ours, we want to make sure you can (figuratively) take us home with you! In recording our music we want to capture The Velvetones' charm and sass, the connection and intimacy of vocal performance, and all of the fun and intricate details in our arrangements. It is no small task to capture that kind of magic, and we will need your help to do it! 


What is the album for?

First and foremost the album is for you! Our supporters and fans who want to listen to us and enjoy at home. We can also use the tracks to:

  • Sell after concerts - this can sometimes help us lower our fee, which means we can get to more events, festivals, and maybe even tour!
  • Send out to agents and potential clients so that we can keep sharing the velvety toney goodness
  • Help the singers in our workshops learn music by ear
  • But really, mostly for people to enjoy

All we need is for 220 people to get one ticket to the album launch and a CD, and we are there! Or for eight people to have us sing at a house concert. So please recommend us to all of your friends to make this happen!

We will come to your school, local choir, vocal ensemble, group of friends or co-workers and run a two hour workshop! We will get in touch prior to discuss what kind of workshop you would like - we can teach one of our arrangements, help you develop vocal technique, work on harmonisation skills, or discuss the merits of interpretive dance in vocal music (hint: more than you'd think!). You will ALSO get credit as a producer, 2 tickets to the album launch and a signed hard copy of our CD to thank you for your enormous contribution. Sadly, the rest of your ensemble will miss out on a CD... unless they donate too! *The Velvetones are a Melbourne based group - if we need to catch flights, organise accomodation, or travel more than two hours to complete this reward, we may need to discuss additional fees to ensure our expenses are covered.
