Uma Dobia

Hi! Thanks so much for checking out my Pozible campaign! 

I'm really excited to be heading into the studio to record my debut album - Girl on Caffeine. People who know me know how much I love coffee, and I can proudly say that so far 1476 cups of coffee have sustained me through the inspirations, the writing and now the recording of the album (but who's counting).

The music on my album includes a blend (coffee puns, anyone?) of themes: love, loss, unbridled fury, breaking things... catalysts for all good song-writing. Rather than being limited to one genre the album is an infusion of sounds (okay, that's tea... appealing to all audiences) from blues, pop, soul, Latin, RnB, jazz and musical theatre traditions. Each has inspired at least one song on the album, reflecting the mix of experiences life has thrown my way.

The minimum funding goal of $2500 will go towards the recording studio costs and musician costs. Full costs will be closer to $5500, broken down as follows:

Recording studio costs = minimum $1000

Musician costs = $1500-$3000

Photography and album artwork = approximately $500

Music videos x 2 = approximately $1000

The biggest challenge for me is coordinating everything -- the writing, arranging, hiring the musicians and organising rehearsals. It's a whole lot of new experiences for me. However, I've had great advice from good friends who've done this before, as well as support from the producer at the recording studio. The musicians are onboard, the songs are written and I'm loving working on the arrangements. I'm learning a lot about the music business through this experience, and I am so excited to be getting to the final part of this journey. With your help I'll be ready to release my very first album in August.
