Roundabout time to get moving
Hey Guys,
Thanks for being here! We know that times are tough for many out there at the moment so the fact that you’re reading this, means more than you know.
Tumut River Brewing Co was founded in 2012. I built that first brewery with my mate Simon and we were proud to be the smallest commercial micro brewery in the southern hemisphere. Since then we have bootstrapped our way from upgrade to upgrade (and crisis to crisis). We've grown to a business that employs 27 people across two states
Not having a war-chest has meant that we’ve always been in an insecure position because we’ve had to balance our repayments against our income and as a business that has been doubling year on year for a number of years, investment often exceeded income.
Just as we were about to get ahead financially, the bushfires hit our region at the end of 2019/20. We then fell straight into the pandemic and came out the other side of it in January 2022 only for the immediate start of roundabout roadworks directly in front of our retail premises. While we fully support this project, we have had access to the brewery, bar and restaurant blocked or obstructed since then. The roadworks were scheduled to finish in December 2022. Sadly, Tumut flooded in November and they pushed back the completion date until mid 2023.
We have sustained losses of over $1,000,000.00 during this period and we need help. So, we’re asking you to buy some cool limited edition items knowing that this money will help us in our hour of need and you will get something for your contribution.
I believe that we’re worth supporting, we've built a strong brand with great products that promote our beautiful region and the local producers within it. We have an amazing team of hardworking people who deserve to keep doing this thing that they love and are so good at.
I honestly don't know what we can expect to raise with this and in reality anything will help, but if this is wildly successful, there will be no shortage of things this money can be used for. If we could magically pay all of our bills, we could finish the new brewery site that was started and stalled during the pandemic, upgrade key brewery equipment to make more beer and upgrade our premises to house more people in better comfort.
Thanks for reading this and thanks for whatever help you can give, I hope to see you for an ice cold beer soon - it's roundabout time we got moving in a positive direction!

Budget Overview
Our financial challenges are pretty simple, we need as much as we can raise but every dollar counts (so thank you for whatever you can do).
Our business may not recover if we can't bring these overdue accounts back into line quickly. It’s simply not possible to be profitable if we continue to carry so much debt.
We have set our initial crowd funding target at $50,000 because if this goal isn’t reached the rules of crowd funding mean we don’t get any of the funds donated. And, if we reach $50,000 this will go a long way to helping with our most pressing debts.
$200,000 - This is the amount need to pay immediately due accounts, who are other Australian businesses that need that money as much as we do.
$600,000 - Sadly more overdue suppliers but mainly the short-term loans needed to survive the impact of 18 months of roadworks on our front door that caused a devastating loss of business. The road works started just after the COVID pandemic which followed the 2019-20 bushfires across our region. We know others have done it tough, but these road works mean we got the trifecta. If we reach this crowd funding target, we will be in a strong position for next year.
$800,000 – This is the remainder of the debts incurred to get through Covid and the bushfires. If we reach this goal we will exceed all expectations and I will be able to put our business back to where it was prior to all of this – which means more local jobs and great beer, food and music for years to come.
Thank you for considering getting behind our business.
