The idea of SOUND OF SYDNEY VOLUME 4.0 is to catch up on some of the great bands who have been active across some or all of the 40 years since Method Records' first release in 1980.
The purpose of this crowdfunding is essentially a pre-sale for the latest volume of the SOUND OF SYDNEY. We want to press on vinyl as well as CD and print a really cool T-Shirt based on the album design which will feature one of legendary artist Peter O’Doherty’s brilliant paintings of Sydney. Peter O'Doherty is a significant Sydney artist and a member of Dog Trumpet and previously played with Mental as Anything for many years.
Method released three Volumes of the Sound of Sydney during the 1980s, with significant success. Volume 2 and Volume 3 both made the Top 40 mainstream album charts in Sydney. This is a mock-up of the album cover...
SOUND OF SYDNEY VOLUME 4.0 will be a limited edition 12 inch compilation LP album vinyl release featuring 12 Sydney bands plus a matching CD release, which will have a few extra bonus tracks (16 tracks TBC).
Sound of Sydney Volume 4.0 will contain a number of previously unreleased and rare recordings and will not be available on digital platforms.

Budget Overview
I am looking to raise $5,000 to cover some of the costs of manufacture - Vinyl, CDs, and T-shirts as well as paying each band an up-front fee for their great music.
Costs include...
- Mastering, which will be done by audio legend William Bowden
- Pressing of the vinyl
- Manufacture of the CDs
- Up-front royalty payments to the bands/artists
- Other boring stuff like packaging etc
Anything I raise over this amount will go towards creating a high-quality poster and video content to accompany the music that the bands can share with you all while they are all mostly not actively playing live.
