Following the huge success of the launch of our crowd funded Obsidian Black Ale, Valhalla Brewing are once again offering the opportunity to be a part of the launch of a new beer. This time it is Aragon Summer IPA.

We have chosen Aragon as the next of our beers to release commercially because it is the perfect partner to our Obsidian Black Ale. An intense golden colour, Aragon is full of fresh stone fruit and citrus flavours, with lemon sherbet tang and a nice bitter finish. Aragon combines 3 pale, wheat and crystal malts with Centennial, Chinook, Mosaic and Summer hops to create a refreshing, satisying 6.3%, 60 IBU India Pale Ale style beer.

KNIGHTS OF ARAGON ($500) - As a Knight of Aragon you will be held in the highest esteem and to show our eternal gratitude you will have your name printed on the labels of Aragon forever. You will also receive a case of 12 x 500mL bottles of Aragon to enjoy and share with your friends (while proudly showing off your name on the label!). If you get in early you could be one of two Knights invited to come along to Brew Day as well!

HOST TO THE COURT ($400) - For your support you will receive a keg of Aragon IPA delivered and served by Scott. A great present or perhaps share the cost between a few mates and have yourself an Aragon party!

SQUIRE OF ARAGON ($120-$180) - You receive a case of 12 x 500mL bottles of Aragon IPA PLUS a cool Valhalla cap PLUS a bumper sticker, PLUS an invitation to our exclusive launch party.

To celebrate the launch of Aragon, we will be holding an exclusive launch party. Only our campiagn supporters will be invited, so if you would like to be a part of our celebrations then pledge now. About us

Valhalla Brewing is owned by Torquay based husband and wife team Scott Hunt and Ange Tydd. Valhalla are passionate about creating brilliant handcrafted beer that helps to open up people’s perceptions of what beer can or should be.

In norse mythology, Valhalla is the great hall of Odin where Viking warriors go after they die to be reunited with their friends and loved ones. In essence it is the Viking’s heaven, where they feast, fight and drink beer for eternity. We reckoned this was the perfect name for a brewery (although we prefer to think of ourselves as lovers rather than fighters!).

Valhalla’s beers are big, bold yet accessible. We brew the beers we love to drink and love nothing better than when our beers bring a little bit of joy into other’s lives.

In May 2016, we launched our first commercial beer, Obsidian Black Ale, via a crowd funding campaign. The huge success of this and the resulting popularity of the beer has encouraged us to also use the crowd funding platform to launch our second commercial beer, Aragon Summer IPA.

Valhalla Brewing currently "gypsy brew" our beers. That means that we brew our beers on other brewery's systems. We can therefore brew great beers and get them into the marketplace without the huge costs associated with setting up our own brewery. Many craft beer breweries start out this way and it gives us the freedom to brew great beers and establish a presence on the craft beer market.

The approximate breakdown of costs for the initial Aragon Summer IPA batch will be:

Materials costs (inc. power/water/waste/grain/hops/yeast/etc) $1200

Brewing costs (inc. labour, hire of brewery, bottles, keg hire etc) $2300

Excise (tax) costs $1000

Label printing $500

In addition to this we will be contributing additional costs for label printing, transport, and the cost of producing supporting merchandise and the launch party costs. These costs are expected to exceed $1500.

From our successful first crowd funding campaign we have learned some very valuable lessons. These will be applied to Aragon Summer IPA campaign. So we are very confident that we have ironed out any of the small issues that arose.

If the Obsidian launch was anything to go by, our biggest challenge will be ensuring we have enough beer to meet the demand!
