This is a book that celebrates and brings awareness to difference and neurodiversity in a playful rhyming tale!

The Wallaby is always jumping here and there. She’s so excited about life that she can’t stay still and she can’t focus for long at all! She goes in one direction, and then gets distracted and changes track; she can’t stick to her goals and she’s always late! If Wobbly Wallaby happened to be a kid in a classroom, they might even say she has ADHD. 

The Absolute Bandicoot is annoyed by Wobbly Wallaby because he is the complete opposite – he can’t see anything outside the small hole he is rigidly digging, doesn’t like disturbance, and wants to stay focused on his one task. He tends to be a little rude and abrupt, which hurts the sensitive wallaby’s feelings. The bandicoot may even exist somewhere on the autistic spectrum, (not that we are giving him that label!) But these two quite different and special creatures find that they have some gifts to share with each other, and they realise in the end that  they make a great team.

Anything familiar going on here? I certainly recognise parts of myself in these neurodiverse marsupials! I’m sure many kids (and adults) will too, as ADHD and ASD traits and diagnoses have become so prevalent in our new world. Kids learning to understand their gifts alongside their challenges becomes an essential part of harnessing their genius, understanding themselves and using their gifts to create their own unique magic – just as the wallaby and the bandicoot have done together! This book is valuable and fun not just for the neurodiverse among us, but for all big and small who love uniqueness and appreciate those who hop outside the lines!

Ukrainian artist Polina Hrytskova will illustrate this Australian-themed book in her artistic and uniquely beautiful watercolour style, once the crowdfunding goal has been reached! This the artwork by Polina, and draft version of the cover, yet to be designed!

You may have already heard that I received a random donation towards this crowdfund, which prompted me to attempt the crowdfund again!

Total target is $3500, and the amount I still need to raise in this campaign is $2500.

$1900 - payment to Polina for illustrations

$500 - design

$1100 - book printing (note that this amount depends on how many books are ordered. Each copy costs $16/13)

 $16 from every hardcover and $13 from every soft cover ordered will go directly to paying for it to be printed.
