Kristian Fletcher 2020 Fundraising
With news of the Metro Arts building being sold and Schonell Theatre being demolished - the future of Kristian Fletcher Events is critical.
Kristian Fletcher is an icon of Brisbane culture - QUEENSLAND, AUSTRALIA.
Since 2000, he has presented cult/classic and retro music events at venues around town. Kristian was one of the Brisbane pioneers.
In that 19 years, Kristian has presented successful movie programs at Schonell Theatre, Tribal Theatre, Globe Theatre, Boggo Road Gaol, Blue Room Cinebar, New Farm Cinemas and Metro Arts.
The hardest hurdle now is returning to pop-up screenings at different locations and sourcing a suitable venue to hire to present these events.
Without a venue and the increasing cost of hosting events (eg, public liability, movie rights & more), each year Kristian needs a nest egg of money to ensure his annual programs can continue.
Before an event is even held, Kristian requires around $700 to cover venue hire and movie screening fees. Public liability and wages haven't been even taken into consideration at this stage. At an average ticket price of $12 - you can see that these events require significant outlay.
These donations will ensure the successful hosting of such events as:
>Madonna Party
>Rocky Horror Picture Show with live floorshow
>Kate Bush Wuthering Heights Day
>Bowies Down Brunswick
The latter two events annually raise funds for local charities such as Cancer Council and DVConnect.
In the near future, Kristian hopes to bring back retro cabarets after a sell-out seasons in 2011, Comedy Commentary Cinema and B Movies Live. These three events give opportunities and paid work for local performers.
Kristian Fletcher will continue bringing movie and music events to Brisbane, enriching the cultural landscape of the city and giving generations the opportunity to delve into nostalgia and create new memories.

Budget Overview
Each venue hire or deposit is around $200-$300
Movie rights are around $300+ per movie
Public liability is required for many of the outdoor and charity events, an expense which is hard to recover due to the events being fundraisers.
