Jack Holt

Who are we?

My name is Jack Holt. I played in the Melbourne band This Is Serious Mum from it's inception. 

This became a wonderful adventure in creating music. The camaraderie of that group of people never ceased to inspire me.

Then one day years later I realized I did not have very much time to put toward making original music any more. 

Around this time T.I.S.M. was at a point where it was naturally wrapping up. A sad but inevitable occurrence. 

So I stopped writing for a time. 

I have however been playing live regularly in a band almost ever since T.I.S.M. finished. This has been wonderful as I have still been able to practice the craft of playing live, particularly with a live drummer. For a bass player this is very rewarding. 

As time went by my commitments have settled down a bit and I have found I have more time to concentrate on what I really enjoyed in the past, recording and producing original music. 

I have met a very interesting musician called Matt Jeffery. Matt is a songwriter, graphic artist, philosopher, mechanic and probably a lot of other things I have not realized as yet. Matt like me has been writing songs for a long time. 

He has performed his material in many live solo shows in Melbourne. He has used his songwriting in life as a means of expression, understanding and resolution, social commentary and personal exploration. 

The subject of his songs are many and varied and have inspired me.

I really hope we can share them with you.

The project.

Hey Lads and Lassies

The studio venue has changed direction completely and is now in Hoppers Crossing.

Drumer David Downing joins me this weekend to track live skins on the album.

Matt and I decided to put our talents together, have fun recording and see where it went. So far we have produced a collection of songs which we have enjoyed very much working on and we would like to now share in the form of an album. 

We would like to finish the recording project with professional mixing and mastering and play live shows to support this release if possible in the future. Our new venture and self titled album will be called, The Collaborators.

We would very much appreciate your help in making the finished product a reality.

With finishing the recordings and mixing, the budget would be roughly $400.00 per track.

Twelve, and potentially more tracks, are in production therefore a minimum of $4,800.00 to finished mix stage.

Mastering budget would be a modest $1,500.00. 

Signed CD's manufactured on a limited run of one hundred plus fifty Matt Jeffery Graphics T-shirts 

(Back - ' 1+1= ',  Front - ' The Collaborators ') costing roughly $1,100.00 would follow.

Digital download would be facilitated with the release.

$7,400.00 should see the project finished but naturally more would help in the final stages of recording, mixing and promotion.
