FAILURE....is a part of the learning process required to succeed in Science
Help us fund a Sydney Science Festival school student FREE event, which aims to showcase the trails, tribulations and triumphs experienced by Women in Science, followed by a networking event to allow students to engage with a diverse cohort of successful women, both from academia and industry. The event is presented by Women in Science Australia and Franklin Women and supported by the Univeristy of Sydney Vet School who are providing the venue. Further details and tickets availible here.
We need $$$$ to fund a professional MC for the evening, to 'grill' the Women in Science in a rapid fire Q&A in the hotseat in the first part of the evening, as well as the Mocktails and Canapes for the attendees in the second part. We also need to buy some fedoras so that the scientists can be easily identified in a crowd...and rubber stamps for the students to collect, as they play Women in Science 'Bingo'. We also would like to offer prizes like these to encourage the students to participate in the networking part of the evening.
Please give generously to this community event, aiming to inspire the next generation of scientists...and communicate to them that failure is not something to be afraid of...but an important part of the pathway to success in science.
How The Funds Will Be Used
Professional MC fees: $2,500
Catering Costs: $2,500
Fedoras, Stamps and Prizes: $500
Any excess funds will be donated to the not-for-profit WiSA and Franklin Women, to support future such iniatives
