"Pulse" is about a gay disabled teenage boy who changes into the body of a beautiful woman, so that he can be loved.

It is a deeply personal film, exploring thematic questions such as "how much do our bodies shape who we are?", "where is the line between compromising for love, and changing yourself to be loved?" & "why do we fall in love with the people we fall in love with?" It is a film for young people, queer people, disabled people; but more than that, for anyone who has ever struggled with their body, their appearance, their sexuality, their desires, and essentially, themselves.

Stevie Cruz-Martin & Daniel Monks have been a filmmaking partnership for the past six years. Their short films have selected for over thirty-five film festivals around the world, including two at Palm Springs International ShortFest 2011; making them one of only three filmmaking teams worldwide to receive that honour. The following year, they fortunately had a third film selected for the festival.

"Pulse" is the culmination of that six-year partnership. The genesis of the story was derived from one of their early short films back in 2009, whilst at the Australian Film Television & Radio School (AFTRS). Eighteen months ago, Stevie & Daniel brought the core cast on board to begin developing & workshopping the characters; and in turn, a lot of their amazing work has aided the script in it's development & evolution.

The same core filmmaking team who have worked with Stevie & Daniel over the years are all donating their time & talents to have this film made, and they also have incredible musicians such as Canadian Electro-Indie Pop duo, "Featurette" & Sydney-based Singer-Songwriter "Benoit" generously donating their music to the film. You can check out their music in the links below - and be sure to like them on facebook & follow them on twitter as well!

How The Funds Will Be Used

The funds raised through this campaign will go towards vital elements of the production, such as:
- Camera Hire
- Production Design
- Costume Design
- Catering
- And finally, the payment, flights & accommodation for the key supporting character of the lead's mother, Jacqui. This is an integral role to the film, and we have some exciting news on the horizon regarding the casting of her.

If you beautiful people can help us hit our further target of $30,000, we will not only be able to make an amazing film, but we will also be able to pay all of our incredible cast & crew for their tireless efforts in making this film a reality.

The Challenges

The biggest obstacle for this film is not raising the necessary funds to complete it, but fortunately we have a committed filmmaking team who are passionate about getting this story told who with, on top of the generous & supportive Perth filmmaking community, we are certain we can get this story told, whatever way.
