Taking Project HOME to Sydney

We have been accepted to participate in the Underbelly Arts Lab and Festival 2013, taking place on Cockatoo Island, Sydney. The Arts Lab will see us work on the island with a selection of emerging artists from around the country. As emerging Western Australian artists, the Underbelly Arts Festival represents an amazing opportunity for us to reach a national audience, showcasing our work in the iconic location of the Cockatoo Island precinct. We've also been selected to take part in a matched crowd funding campaign where very dollar raised up to our target will be matched by the Keir Foundation. Which means for every dollar you give, you're kind of giving us two!
The project that we will be collaborating on will be a site specific installation titled Project HOME. We will be bringing together elements of our respective practices as a single experience, including sculpture, painting, video, light and sound works. This is the first time that we have had the opportunity to work together and we are aiming to create an installation that explores and celebrates what it means to be an Abdullah brother.
In order to realise the project to its full potential we need as much help as we can get. So far we've applied for funding from the Western Australian Department of Culture and the Arts, but we still need a little more support to make this project happen. Funds raised through Pozible crowdfunding will go towards the considerable costs of materials and freight required to relocate both us and our artworks from Perth to Sydney for the two week residency and Festival. We are hoping to raise $2500 through crowd funding, and thanks to the generous support of the Keir Foundation any pledges made to our project will be matched. This means that if we are able to raise our goal of $2500, they will give us another $2500! Awesome! We are offering an extensive range of awesome rewards and will be incredibly grateful for any support that you can offer that allows us to present Project HOME as a fully developed and memorable installation.

Underbelly Arts exists to uncover Australia’s next great artists.
Since 2007 the Underbelly Arts Lab has provided opportunities for more than 600 artists to develop and create in a unique and supported environment where, over two weeks, audiences are invited to watch art unfold and take part in the process.
In 2013 Underbelly Arts is once again taking over Cockatoo Island and giving artists the chance to create and respond in one of Australia’s magnificent settings. These works will then be showcased as part of the Underbelly Arts Festival, a two-day art party that celebrates process, new ideas and the best emerging and experimental artists across Australia.
The Underbelly Arts Festival will take place on August 3 & 4.
