The Women to Women Empowerment Project  for Africa is about bringing clothe sanitary pads to women in Africa who have no such luxuries.

 Many thousands of women have nothing to 'use' when their moon blood flows, having to resort to using leaves when they have their menstruation. 

After doing  quite a bit of research, I decided that I could do something about this. 

I started this project three weeks ago, putting a call out to many women for donations of flannelette, pins, needles, cotton, buttons and  'help'.

SO many women are holding their hands up to support  this project and groups of women are turning up for Sewing/Working Bees, making bags, cutting out and sewing pads and sewing buttons on. Amazing!!

 I will leave for West Africa in December with my partner and we will travel overland in our Russian ex army truck. We have  seven months of travel ahaed.

 I will take about  four hundred pads and as many 'toolkits' as I can carry.

 The toolkits will hold, pins, needles, sewing cotton,  buttons, scissors and a template. I will also supply some fabric.  With these  'tool kits', I will show the women in many villages as we travel overland, how to make the pads and I will  give them the tools to accomplish it. Mostly we will be sewing them by hand.

This is a very grass roots project......from women to women.

By the time I leave in  early December 2017 for Morocco, I will have in my bags, everything I need to make this project happen. 

My only problem is getting the pads and toolkits to Africa as I know I will have too much luggage and will be overweight, which means I will have to pay an airline.....so that is why I am asking you to help me.

The four hundred dollars I am seeking is solely for the freight of the pads and toolkits. However if it is not all spent on freight then it will be spent on fabric and scissors to add to the kits in Africa.

I don't see any challenges with this project.  

I already have almost everything I need to take to Africa. I also  have two more Sewing/Working Bees organised, to enable the putting together of the last kits and making more pads. 

 I will see this project through; till I run out of toolkits in Africa....for as long as I can.

 This  project is just born and I intend to expand it as much as I can into the future.  I  also have plans to extend it into remote Mongolia.
