Wild Things Impact Campaign
Welcome to the Crowdfunding Campaign for our feature documentary ‘WILD THINGS’.
Your pledges fund a social impact and outreach strategy that will help the film to be seen by as many people as possible.
What’s The Film About?
WILD THINGS follows a new generation of environmental activists that are mobilising against forces more powerful than themselves and saying: enough! Armed only with mobile phones this growing army of eco warriors will do whatever it takes to save their futures from the ravages of climate change. From chaining themselves to coal trains, sitting high in the canopy of threatened rainforest or locking onto bulldozers, their non-violent tactics are designed to generate mass action with one finger tap. Against a backdrop of drought, fire and floods; we witness how today’s environmentalists are making a difference and exploring connections with the past through the untold stories of previous campaigns.
Our Crowdfunding Campaign is a little different than most other documentaries. Why? Our film is finished - thanks to the amazing support of Screen Australia, Screen Territory, Screen Tasmania, Film Victoria and many generous donors just like you.
Why Do We Need Your Support?
Our film has a very important job to do. It needs to inspire people of all ages that change is possible.
We want our audience to realise that activists are ordinary people, who have decided that in order to save their future they must get involved and take action now!
If you are not in a position to go to the frontline, then we ask you to help us get our film out to as many people as possible
by donating to our outreach campaign.
Here’s a trailer to our film!
Our film recently premiered at the prestigious Cinefest Oz Film Festival in WA.
This is what the audience had to say:
"After watching the film, I wanted to get more involved in the protest and learn more about climate change."
"I thought it was a powerful film that humanises those on the front line. It was inspiring and moving to see what young people have been able to achieve in regard to the school strikes."
"The way that they get into the mix of things, they genuinely fight for what is right. While they do have peaceful protests to raise awareness, they also actively protect forests and much more."
What Will Your Pledges Fund?
Your pledges fund a social impact and outreach strategy that will help the film to be seen by as many people as possible.
We want to go beyond the city cinemas and take the film out to the suburbs, and regional country towns. Most of all, we want every school and local environment group to watch the film and use its bespoke curriculum and action-based packs to help their own community strive for change.
Your donations will provide the funds to create these resources, roll out our Impact Strategy, promote and market the film across all sectors, and most importantly provide the film for free to schools and community groups.
$10,000 to create and design Curriculum Materials and Action sheets to engage teachers at different levels to use the film with their students to promote Australia’s environment movement and learn how to take meaningful climate action in their own communities.
$10,000 will be used to employ an Education and Screenings Coordinator who will prepare a “Host a Screening Guide” and contact schools and community groups across Australia to help them use the film.
$5,000 to cover Marketing and Promotion. These funds will enable the film to be marketed to teachers (free screening to over 500 teachers to encourage them to use the film); DVD’s and creation of purpose-built online platform to deliver digital screenings to communities with Q&A sessions afterwards to help inspire change.
$10,000 will enable us to provide the film and curriculum resource materials for FREE to 100 Schools and Community Groups at a costing of @ $100 per screening.
CROWDFUNDING TARGET $35,000
With your help if we reach this target within the first 15 days, we will go for a stretch target of $50,000.
The extra $15,000 will enable us to deliver the film and curriculum materials to an additional 150 schools and community groups.
The more people who see the film the more we will inspire particularly young people to believe that change is possible and get out there and stand up for the planet today.
With your support our film will meet this challenge and continue inspiring activists from all walks of life to stand up for our planet.
