When Harri Met Salma Short Film
The Story
When Harri Met Salma is a short film about Salma (Mia Morrissey), a young Muslim woman, who must decide between pleasing her family, or being true to herself. With the woman she's seeing, Harri (Teresa Moore), asking for a relationship they can both be open about, and her brother Farwad (James Thomasson), putting pressure on her to adhere to their family's traditions, Salma is torn about how to live her life her way, rather than how others want her to.
Wanting to be with Harri, and open about it, whilst appeasing Farwad, who she also loves, Salma must decide if she's going to take charge of her life - and what that charge might look like.
When Harri Met Salma is a short film produced by students of the WA Screen Academy, in collaboration with the third year actors of the Western Australian Academy of Performing Arts (WAAPA).

Budget Overview
The locations we use for When Harri Met Salma, and the way they look, are so important. Each scene is specifically tied to where it is set, and that means that we need these to look perfect! A big part of the funds we hope to raise will be allocated to securing locations and the production design for each of them.
Our cinematographer, Edwin, scouts a potential filming location
We will also require some camera equipment and a qualified operator of this equipment for a pivotal scene. A substantial portion of the funds will be allocated to this.
It takes a big crew to make an amazing short film. And the film will be even better if they are well fed to fuel the best work possible, on set. Funds are required to ensure that everyone eats and drinks well, to be able to work to the best of their abilities.
Potential Challenges
One of our key scenes, and the longest in the film, requires a Steadicam - a camera stabilizer mount - to create a smooth and flowing feeling. This is important to the narrative and what it will evoke within the film. As we do not readily have access to a Steadicam and a Steadicam operator, these will need to be hired. We hope to be able to do this with your help.
