Wanjoo wanjoo kwobidak koorda!

Thank you for taking time to look at this little project. Wanjoo is a song I've written in Noongar language (from the south west corner of Western Australia). It is a rare, beautiful language, with very few fluent speakers left.

I currently run workshops (mostly in primary schools, but we also have worked with community choirs and groups) to teach my song to as many people as possible, with the view to having Noongar language represented by as many people as possible.

The purpose of this project is to look at this song and language in a new way; through publishing a children's book. The awesome students from Ashfield Primary School in Perth have been working hard on producing amazing illustrations to go with the words to this humble little song.

Your support will enable schools to access this language that I love in a new and beautiful way, engaging with children to deliver a message of inclusiveness and reconciliation. This campaign will also kickstart a "pay it forward" system, where proceeds from book sales will enable access by schools which have smaller numbers (and don't necessarily have the budget to host a workshop).

The funds will be used to design, print and launch this book.

The launch will happen in Perth, WA and then books will be sold at workshops and via the website www.ginawilliams.com.au

Raising the initial funds required to get this started is the biggest challenge.
