Welcome!

Here at The Northern Folk we've been pretty busy. It's been over 800 days since we released our last album, 'Stumble On Home', into the world. Since then we've played 150 shows, released a couple of new singles and grown exponentially as a band and as mates. This is largely due to the incredible support shown to us at festivals, pubs and homes across Australia. This support has buoyed and inspired us through 18-hour bus trips, nights in frozen tents and times when we feared that perhaps choosing the life of a 10-piece band wasn't the easiest way to go about making music...

We figured it's about time we put out something new for you. Our new album has grown slowly over the last 18 months, through our singles 'Get On' and 'Cold', to incessant rehearsal and revision of new material. It eventually became a 10-track offering of our best new songs. It is our largest album to date. It contains songs that we have performed countless times at shows over the last two years; if you've heard it and it's not on one of the CDs you already have, it's here. It also contains new tracks, rarely and even never before heard live. We can't wait for you to hear this album.

At The Northern Folk, we proudly maintain our independence. It gives us the freedom to write and release music that we love at our own pace and without outside interference. It allows us to tour on our own flexible schedules and maintain a healthy band/life balance. However, it does mean that all of our endeavours, including this one, are self-funded. That's where you come in.

Anyone who has recorded music will tell you that it's an expensive process - the gear and the expertise don't come cheap! Expertise like that of Julian McKenzie and Callum Barter at Newmarket studios, who recorded and mixed the entire album; Joe Carra at Crystal Mastering, who as we speak is giving the album its final sheen; and Amber Gittins, the talented artist who created the album's beautiful cover. On top of this there is printing and promotion to consider.

We are asking for your help to allow us to bring this album into existence. If you have ever come to a Northern Folk show, enjoyed our music on Spotify or even if you're just a passing well-wisher (or one of our mums), any donation you can spare is appreciated from the bottom of our hearts. It's also the only way you can hear the album before it is released! Donations of $15 and $25 get you a digital download or signed CD respectively, available to you before the official release date.

In 2013, The Northern Folk was a six-piece band working out of a shed in North Albury that was so small it gave Ed permanent neck problems. The journey we've been on since has been one that we've scarcely been able to believe. The support we've received has been truly humbling.
