Mission

The mission of 10x10 is to fight apathy & engender a culture of giving & philanthropy within Australia's young professional & creative communities.

The Problem

  • There are thousands of charities - how do you know where to start?
  • How do you know where your money's going?
  • How do you get enough time to find out what's out there, let alone whether they're legit?
  • How do you make a difference when you're not a millionaire?

10X10 Solution

  • 10 young professionals come together to form a committee and organise a charitable event (1 x venue, 3 x charities, 1 x dragon, food & drink).
  • Three small emerging charities in need of funds are selected by the committee.
  • Each committee member invites ten of their friends to each pay $100 or more to attend the event (10 x 10... get it?). Creating a pool of at least $10,000.
  • Upon arrival at the event the attendees are given "Charity Dollar" equal to the value of their ticket ($100 = 2 Charity Dollars and $150 = 3 Charity Dollars)
  • The attendees watch three charities pitch their cause, model and impact - all with a dragon who asks the questions an indiviual should ask to ensure hard earned dollars donated by them are put to the best possible use.

  • After hearing the pitches, you choose the organisations you most want to support and donate your charity dollars accordingly.

  • Please note your ticket price is converted into your donation.  100% of your money is passed directly onto the charities and is fully tax deductible. The charities are charged a 7.5% project fee of total revenue raised to cover 10x10 administration and infrastructure costs.

The Charities

OneWave is a non-profit surf community tackling mental health issues with a simple recipe; saltwater therapy, surfing and fluro.  OneWave lets people know they are not alone and encourages them to get in the ocean, surf it out and talk about it.

My Green World is a wildlife and environmental organisation dedicated to bridging the gap between the public and on-ground wildlife and environmental initiatives. My Green World is committed to raising awareness and reporting on key issues in wildlife and environmental conservation and animal welfare landscapes.

In order to engage the kids of today, My Green World has created a unique interactive app “World of the Wild”.  The app raises awareness of threats to wildlife and involves building a sanctuary and rescuing animals from the brink of terror, cruelty and extinction. Young orangutans, turtles, dolphins, cheetahs and elephants are waiting to be rescued! Each animal in the game represents a real life charity which you can support replicate the scenarios you have played out, in real life.

In addition to “World of the Wild”, My Green World has established Kids Corner, an online classroom which offers a suite of tech-based, educational resources for children as well as school workshops which delivers presentations at primary and high schools across Australia.

“The question is, are we happy to suppose that our grandchildren may never be able to see an elephant except in a picture book” – David Attenborough

Little Dreamers believe in an Australia where all Young Carers have someone to care for them.  This amazing charity aims to reduce the prevalence of mental illness among Young Carers by promoting social connectedness.

The reality right now is that there are 420,000 Young Carers with 50% living in circumstances of disadvantage, 60% unemployed, 40% don’t finish high school and 2 out of 3 have a mental illness. Young carers are 1 of the 4 most marginalised groups in the Australian community.

Their goal is an Australia where Young Carers are valued by the wider community, empowered by their caring role and supported to achieve better emotional health and wellbeing.
