Ramona Magazine for Girls (previously Tigress Magazine for Girls) is an online magazine for teen girls and young adult women, with a yearly print edition.

Founded in 2014 by Freya Bennett and Sophie Pellegrini, we have been a breath of fresh air from the both harmful and boring mainstream media while creating a safe, inspiring, empowering space for teen girls and a diverse community of young women worldwide (our readership and contributors span over 38 countries!). We provide teen girls with quality feminist content, but more importantly, we give them the chance to share their creative work and be heard and celebrated.

WHY RAMONA?

» We empower and inspire teenage girls and young adult women through the content we publish and by allowing teens to share their creative work and thoughts with a dedicated audience.

» We combat the messages girls are bombarded with that lead to an array of problems with sexual, mental, and physical health.

» We feature a diverse range of normalcy for girls, celebrate differences, and encourage the sharing of a wide range of perspectives and opinions.

» The content we publish is carefully selected to maintain a balance between mainstream and more alternative content that always coincide with our feminist values, dictated by the concerns and requests of real teen girls.

» Our community is not based in one country—we have a diverse, worldwide community that spans over 40 countries and touches every continent (except Antarctica!)

» We educate young women on the principles of feminism in a way that is not overpowering or imposing, but encourages readers to question misconceptions and increase their awareness of the insidious influences throughout our cultural that counter all that feminism stands for.

» We celebrate girlhood and all its ups and downs, while acknowledging the over-simplified conception of gender on a girl-versus-boy binary.

» Our team is accessible, transparent, and committed to communication and building relationships and friendships with our readers and contributors.

» Inclusivity is key: we very rarely reject work, and only when it opposes our core principles.

» We feature few advertisements, and only endorse companies, businesses, and individuals that align with our values and goals.

THE LAUNCH:

The launch will be held at the beautiful Allpress studio in Collingwood, Melbourne on the 4th of December. We have so much planned and can't wait to see you there. There will be an arts and crafts market, yummy food, music and readings from Ramona Volume Two!
