Our shared passion

Darcy and I first met in our final years of high school. Our friendship continued throughout our days at university. Having studied and researched psychology/neuroscience and physics, we are fairly used to doing things in a precise way. Inspired by my dad’s hobby of distilling weird and wonderful spirits, we too were attracted to what we considered a seductive balance between science and art.

Where the magic happens

Our still is a 130 litre hand-made, copper pot-still from Germany - one of the last of its kind!

We started experimenting with our small still and were amazed at the endless combinations of aromas and tastes that we could achieve. Gin in particular, is a classic but also contemporary spirit with a lot of versatility. Borrowing from the knowledge my dad gained from a German master distiller, we started to play with our new toy – the Carl still.

Why Bushcrafted Dry?

The sights, sounds and smells of the Australian bush are as rich as they are diverse. With this in mind we spent some time in finding the perfect balance between native and traditional botanicals. Using our hand-made German still we combine the traditional gin flavours of juniper and coriander with wild natives. In particular, we have tried to subtly combine the Tasmanian pepper berry and leaf, cinnamon myrtle and the lemon scented tea tree leaf.

We believe we have finally come up with something distinctively original and really special. An incredibly aromatic ‘champagne’ coloured dry gin, with a complex and well-rounded character. True to its origins, it couldn’t really be called anything else but “Bushcrafted Dry”. Production is by hand in micro-batch quantities in order to maintain the highest possible quality and taste.

By supporting us, you’ll be helping to build an Australian craft industry that prides itself on producing products of exceptional quality for all to share. Not only will you be securing a bottle of our first batch, you’ll be allowing us to reinvest in our business. The money gained from our campaign will be used to continue production and to provide our customers with new experiences in the near future. 

Making it all legal

Under the Liquor Act 2007, it is against the law to sell or to supply alcohol to or to obtain alcohol on behalf of a person under the age of 18 years. All deliveries of the Australian Spirit Company must therefore be received and signed for by a person over the age of 18 years. We are unable to post to PO Boxes.
