Time to try a Turmeric Latte! 

Welcome to our delicious new crowdfunding campaign: North Spice -  a range of Golden Turmeric Latte blends. 

Turmeric is a powerful natural anti-inflammatory, and has been used in ancient medicine for thousands of years. When combined with the likes of cinnamon, ginger and black pepper, it tastes AH-MAZING as a creamy beverage. (Think: chai latte, only better!).  

The North Spice Turmeric blends are Gluten Free, Dairy Free, Soy Free and Caffiene Free but you can certainly add all these things back in if you want to. Our favourite thing to make is a Golden Latte, but you can also try North Spice turmeric blends in all sorts of teas, coffees, smoothies, cocktails, dessets, breakfasts and more - you name it, you can probably add turmeric to it. Each of our three blends have been specially formulated for optimal turmeric absorption, a smooth texture and a great balance of flavours:

1. The Original Golden Turmeric Latte is a creamy blend of our special turmric mix and coconut milk powder, which is full-bodied and seriously tasty. This blend was the first one we lovingly created, and has already been taste-tested by a bunch of people (includng blind taste testing against other products on the market) - all with great initial success. 

2. The Golden Cacao Turmeric Latte is a chocolatey blend of our special turmeric mix and raw cacao, perfect for the chocolate lover who enjoys any excuse to 'just add chocolate'. 

3. The Raw Golden Turmeric Latte is our special turmeric mix straight up, for those who are on the raw food band-wagon, or want the low-energy-intake option. Add-your-own coconut oil to get the maximum hit of turmeric absorption and full-body RAWWWW.

North Spice -  A Social Business Concept 

If our campaign is successful, not only will our supporters receive turmeric gifts galore (see "Rewards"), but we will also then have a platform to start-up the North Spice social business. The venture’s ‘social’ nature  means that the North Spice operates with regular commercial strategies, but also aims to have positive social impact on the world. In this case, all North Spice profits are donated to Pollinate Energy - a charity and social business that is combatting climate change and global poverty in India. 

Pollinate Energy, also co-foudned by young Australians, provides affordable solar lighting and other sustainable products to India’s urban poor.  Since their inception in 2012, Pollinate Energy have installed over 17,000 solar power systems, saving 2 million litres of kerosene and 20 million kilograms of C02 emissions, reaching over 75,000 people in India.  

 $10 000 goes such a long way! We want to be as transparent as possible about our business reporting, so here are the juicy details. 

The cost break down for this first batch of products is as follows: 

• Raw material costs (i.e. secret spice blend, coconut and & caco powders, packaging, labels, promo materials etc.)  
• Product shipping costs Australia wide (i.e. postage and handling) 
• North Spice start-up business expenses (i.e.  production and administration equipment, domain names, online store fees) 
• Marketing/Advertising (i.e. brand awareness and promotion, advertising space, launch campaign costs)
• Product Research & Development (i.e. raw material samples, sample packaging etc.) 
• 5% Pozible Cut 
• The First Round of North Spice Profits! - donated to Pollinate Energy Australia 

Each activity in the business set-up has been its own separate challenge so far – from product development and spice blend optimisation, to supply chain and volume decisions, and branding and graphic design. We've had some incredible learnings and contributions - so we are confident about success.

From now, achieving and maintaining the three-fold business mission is the primary (and most exciting) challenge: 

• to produce high-quality turmeric latte blends as ethically as possible; 
• to support other social enterprises to achieve their own success (e.g. Pollinate Energy); and 
• to help change consumer mindsets towards more socially conscious purchasing habits and to place value in more than just the price tag.
