Lysterfield Cycles aims to be the first not for profit Mountain Bike shop, focusing entirely on MTB

If this Pozible campaign is not successful then Lysterfield Cycles as a not for profit will not go ahead, the committee will wind up Lysterfield Cycles Inc as we have no revenue to operate the shop. The space will then be offered by Montague to competitive tender for a private operator to run the shop.

Located in the new Montague cafe complex near the main Horsewood Rd entrance to Lysterfield park, Lysterfield Cycles will be in a perfect position to help serve the MTB community. "The Orchard at Montague" will have dining and produce for a post ride feed to compliment the whole experience.

Being Not For Profit, Lysterfield cycles will cover its running costs, and all profit on top of this will go back in to the park and the MTB community in a variety of different ways. We’re looking to create an ongoing revenue stream for our stakeholders interests, to improve the Lysterfield experience and draw more interest to the sport.

What is a not for profit?

- A not-for-profit organization does not earn any profits for its owners. Instead, the organization donates the money it receives to help fund the organization's objectives and goals. Lysterfield Cycles core objective is to provide steady recurrent funding for the maintenance of the MTB trails at Lysterfield Park. This will be in the form of paid professional trail builders and supporting LDTR's volunteer trail days with machinery and materials

In order to go ahead with this we need your help to hit our minimum target of $50,000. This is a bare minimum startup cost to cover the set up and initial running costs of the store. All donations will be refunded if the project is unable to go ahead, so you’re not gambling on whether we hit that target.

• Intermediate bike repair classes

• Guided Tours
• Trailside assist
• Emergency parts vending machine

Profits raised from the shop will directly fund MTB Community Projects:

• Material and equipment costs for Lysterfield District Trail Riders (the local MTB Club)
• Engaging professional trail building contractors
• Costs associated with new trail and trail upgrade planning and permits
• Trainee mechanic program for at risk youth
• Bicycle recycling program to help disadvantaged kids get on bikes
• Facility upgrades like bench seating, trailside tool stands, and bike stands
• Local rider support and sponsorship
• Support for official social rides, such as first aid kits and tool kits for ride leaders

$10,000 allocated for initial wages

$10,000 allocated for initial rent/insurance

$15,000 allocated for store set up (POS/insurance/retail fit out/Workshop tooling and fitout)

$15,000 for basic inventory* (service/maintenance parts, basic accessories)

*note that suppliers will require up front payment for all stocked items as we will be an unknown to them

This crowdfunding campaign is an "all or nothing" campaign. If we do not hit the target, no funds will be taken from anyones bank accounts so there is no gambling on whether or not we go ahead with the project.
