Hi! I’m Darcy Fox – a singer/songwriter, bird mother and milo-making extraordinaire. I’ve spent the last 3 years writing some really special tunes that I’m dying to release as my sophomore album! But I need your help. Making music is VERY expensive and I am a one-woman band over here.

I have self-funded and released 1 album, 2 EPs and 3 singles (starting when I was just a baby at 17), but I’ve realised if I want to put out this album in the next decade, I need get all of you involved.

So how do we do it? Think of it as a spicy pre-order that helps to make the album. Basically, you make a pledge for a certain amount of money, and that money will get you some cool stuff. But here's the catch – if I don’t make the target, then I don’t get any of the funds! That means no album and no goodies.

But why should you help me?

Music is my full-time gig. Over the past 10 years you might have seen me playing music at a pub or restaurant, busking in the city, playing at a festival or opening for some cool acts like the Pierce Brothers, Vera Blue, and Russell Morris – to name a few. Every weekend I hit the road and travel all around the state (and sometimes interstate as well!) to play as many gigs as I can (over the past 6 years I’ve averaged around 150 a year!)

I’ve also had the opportunity to tour Australia and New Zealand, and play a really special show at the Bluebird café in Nashville - which was always a dream of mine. In 2014 I won the FreezA Push Start Battle of the Bands, becoming the first soloist to win in the competition’s history.

I feel really grateful for the opportunities I have been given over the years and try to share my knowledge and experience in any way I can. In 2014-2016 I hit the road and toured a bunch of Victorian high schools performing shows and offering advice, and in 2018 I spent a summer teaching music to kids at a camp in California.

It’s been quite a ride and if you’ve been with me since the beginning you’ve seen my cowboy boots and summer dresses phase (thanks, 2009 Taylor Swift), my black bowler hat that I wore to every gig phase (did I ever wash that?), my vintage-style dresses phase (handmade by my lovely mum), my funky grandma shirt phase and now this new chapter that I’m oh so excited about. I even got a new haircut – I’ve committed.

How much is this all going to cost?

Recording the album with the wonderful Curtis Hatton: $12,000

Hiring other talented musicians: $1100

Mastering, so it all sounds good: $3,000

Vinyl pressing: $800

CD pressing and distribution: $1500

Album art: $500

PR, so people find my new tunes and maybe even promote them: $3,000

Merch and goodies: $2,200

Postage, so you get your goodies: $500

Pozible fee (they take 5% of the total donations): $750

All up, I’m looking at over to $20,000 to get this new album ready for your ears – that’s not including the money to create my BRAND NEW single (out soon!). I’ll be making up the rest of the costs myself, but I’d appreciate any help I can get so I can continue to feed and water myself in the meantime.
