“Join me in causing a deluge of encouragement among those who want to do great things in this world. Together we can each play a part in inspiring change in the lives of those we may never meet – but whose hopes and dreams are much like ours.”

BOOK TITLE : Inspire Change - 6 Steps to ‘How?’

AUTHOR : Georgia Thomas

My new book Inspire Change will be published in January and I want to print an extra 500 copies to GIFT to potential change makers.

The people who receive this book for free will:

  • have a passion to make a positive difference in the world,
  • feel like they want to do something more with their life, or
  • need reminding that they haven’t missed the boat when it comes to doing-great-things.

Inspire Change is written for people who want to do great things, but don’t know how.

So why the Pozible campaign?

With your help I can earmark 500 books to be sent at no cost Australia wide to those who need a bit of encouragement finding (or re-finding) their path.

You’ve probably already thought of someone who really needs a book like this, and if that’s the case, send me an email on their behalf and if I reach my target I’ll post it to them.

I’m looking for 500 people with potential that they don’t necessarily see in themselves – but you see it. And this campaign is about helping them to see it as well.

Imagine playing a part in helping someone find their way to Inspire Change. Imagine what could be achieved. Consider the change 500 encouraged and motivated individuals could make across a whole range of causes. Your pledge can help this happen.

Together I hope we can make the difference in hundreds of lives that will have an exponential effect on our communities.

** My Target is set at $2500 and according to the rules I have to meet the target to be able to keep the pledges.** Anything you are able to contribute will be truly appreciated.

Is my story, your story?

Inspire Change is written for those with a burning desire to ‘do more’, but with no idea of ‘how’ to go about it.

Through a series of steps Inspire Change takes readers through a process that will validate their drive to ‘do more’, help them gain clarity about what form that might take, and encourage those who have lost their drive to find it again. Significantly, Inspire Change will help readers understand How they can ‘do great things’.

As a child protection lawyer I have read the files of thousands of children in out of home care and have felt helpless in the struggle to improve the lives of so many who are caught up in entrenched generational issues that are not easily changed. The concept of child protection for me was captured in a statement that has become my own central message.

“Inspiring change in this generation, is our best chance of protecting the next.”

In the years that followed, while I tried to think of an earth shattering plan to change life for these children, their files kept coming across my desk, week after week.

It wasn’t until a series of life-altering events took place that I returned to my love of writing and discovered avenues of inspiring change on a small scale. Instead of dismissing them as I would once have done, I have embraced them as one of many ways I can impact those whose paths I cross. This shift in thinking was so empowering that I wanted to share it with others.

I have always been motivated to do more, but the central problem that kept me inactive for so long, was the question of, “How?”

“How do I inspire change?”

This question is common amongst those who have hit a stage in life where they look back to see what they’ve achieved and often feel they’ve not done all they had hoped. But it also extends to those who watch the news and want our world to be a different place, and to the ever growing number of entrepreneurs with a social conscience and desire to operate ethical businesses that can make life better for others. It is a question on the lips of those facing a new chapter in life; the university graduate, the empty nesters and the retirees. And one pondered by those long troubled by situations in need of intervention.

But many of us have been taught to look for the grand plan, our calling, the life-changing opportunity in which we will single-handedly save the world. And while we wait, lives remain unchanged. It is the cause of this inaction that identifies the central problem to be addressed – Countless numbers of people want to inspire change, but they don’t know How.

Inspire Change takes readers through 6 stages of self-assessment that will bring them closer to understanding themselves and the assets they have to share with others, right now.

How The Funds Will Be Used

The manuscript is finished and edited. The layout is done and the cover artwork underway. In a couple of weeks I will be giving the printers the final numbers to be produced. The goal I've set will cover an additional 500 books but the more I can raise the more books I can give away.

My gifts to you and yours

Each of the gifts from Ground Breakers upward are completely transferrable. So with Christmas on its way, this is an opportunity to support my cause and give a unique gift as a certificate to be redeemed early in the new year when the book and workshop are available. You may also like to support me as a group or organisation.

So who is Georgia Thomas, anyway?

Georgia Thomas is an author and illustrator who uses her writing to connect, comfort and inspire. She’s also a mother of three, and a solicitor with a strong background in child protection. And it’s her experience in this field that has fuelled a desire to inspire change in a generation of children who will ultimately become parents themselves. Georgia’s wealth of experience as an entrepreneur allows her writing to span genres—from her self-published books for children and tweens, to her contribution for business owners on the Smallville website. Inspire Change is Georgia's 4th book and the message it contains is close to her heart.

What are people already saying about Inspire Change?

“I have to say it’s one hell of a book!” Bill Harper, Editor - Sharper Copy

“Inspire Change is a book of acceptance. It is a book with a wonderful structure and framework to help you discover what is important right now, and what to make of that in your current world.”      Andrew Griffiths, Author, Speaker and Mentor.

Synopsis

The alternative approach adopted throughout Inspire Change is the concept that we are not limited to one purpose or calling and that we move through stages of life where a whole host of opportunities to impact lives are revealed.

It gives us the freedom to test, to risk and even fail without feeling we’ve missed the mark. Finding value in each and every one of those opportunities is the real key to feeling we are living lives with purpose.

This shift in thinking creates a new foundation that reinforces the incredible value in people that is quite independent of the things they achieve. Rather than believing our value is in the great things we do, Inspire Change is based on the premise that because we have value, we can do great things.

Inspire Change challenges the reader to transform a concept into living breathing action by asking them to work through the following questions.

  • Why? What motivates you to do great things? Is it based on a personal experience or that of someone close to you? Do you see it as a vehicle to becoming rich and famous, or were you raised to believe that everyone must contribute to the world we leave the generations who follow? This is perhaps the most personally confronting step that clarifies our motives and sorts out why we are driven.
  • What? What are you passionate about? What stirs your heart and draws you to be involved? What images and conversations capture your attention? Some of these questions are easy to answer, while others require insight from people who know us well.
  • Where? Just as entrepreneurs will identify their ideal clients and where they can be found, give some thought to where the source of your passion is located. Where is the need? Local? Global? Is it necessary for you to relocate or does technology provide alternatives? Perspective and solutions are central in this step.
  • Who? Why reinvent the wheel if someone is already working in this space? Instead of setting up a new project, see if you can come alongside one that is already established. If no one is working in this field, consider why before forging ahead. This chapter lists a number of organisations working across a range of initiatives to provide guidance and a starting point for further enquiry.
  • When? What obstacles prevent you from starting now? Are they justified or imagined? Rather than waiting for the planets to align, this step looks at ways to simply start.
  • How? This question is perhaps the most difficult to answer, but it takes shape nicely after working through the earlier questions. How we go about inspiring change is as individual as we are, but the three avenues we can use immediately are found in what we Say, what we Scribe and what we Support.

This final stage connects the dots for those who have worked honestly through the previous stages and will leave the reader with practical steps to take upon reading the last page and a renewed appreciation for their valuable contribution to the role of change.

“We are the rain that falls on still waters.”

Through my own experience I have come to value our ability to transform lives through the simplest of things. And while I am always open to opportunities to create a big splash, I am content creating ripples and inspiring others to do the same.

By helping people acknowledge their value and understand the significance of doing many small acts, we can each take up opportunities to play our part in bringing change to a generation.

We are the rain

We are the rain that falls on still waters

The ever-present reminder that they are not alone

An end to the drought.

Life to barren ground.

A glorious balm,

Cleansing, soothing; a catalyst for change.

Heavy drops that fall with purpose,

Plunging deep within the shadows to the murky depths below

Stirring and revealing that which lurks beneath, so all may see and all may know.

Without us nothing changes.

And so…

We keep them in our thoughts, not in vain attempts at pity, but to remind ourselves of the need for rain – to prompt ourselves to create, invent and innovate.

Our eyes watch for opportunity.

Our hands reach down, ever down, searching for connection to bring them to the surface.

Our feet rush to their aid, our arms carry them to safety.

Our voice soothes, warns and advocates on their behalf.

We write anthems for the masses, and letters in their name,

By any means we can…

We are the rain.

The Challenges

My biggest challenge is to get this book into the hands of as many people as I can. I want to see people out there making a difference in the lives of others and I know this book will help them to start.

But I can’t do it alone.

I have set the target low to cover printing of the minimum number of books and I’m hoping that as a community we can raise a lot more. Every extra $5 will enable me to give a book to someone who is looking for a way to inspire change. If you aren’t able to give financially, but would love to help me knock this target out of the water, please share the link with a few words of support. Thank you.
