My name is Kate Westwood and I am a singer/songwriter based in Melbourne Australia. I have been singing and writing songs since I was 13, I have played in bands and worship teams but on the whole have not shared my songs with many people.

I have dealt with a lot of fear, insecurity and isolation, they have all hindered me from stepping out and beginning this process. 

I really believe that there is room for each of us to boldly share what is on our hearts and to communicate the creativity within. I also believe that there is a need for the song on my heart to be sung and so I am going to do it!

These past 4 years God has been showing me so much of his heart, grafting me into a loving, intentional community and confirming that I am his valuable daughter. As I have learned to be open, vulnerable and allow others into my heart and creative process, I have realised I CAN DO THIS!

ALBUM WORKING TITLE: The Lament & The Love Song

I heard a great definition of humility a while ago - ''Being known for who you are. No more, and no less.''

For a long time I had thought that even with God I needed to be strong and confident, even if I wasn't feeling it. I didn't know how to share my pain or how to be fully myself with God or other people.

My heart for this album is to highlight the importance of both the lament - being honest and real before God no matter the situation; and the love song - our declaration of love and dependence on God.

I pray these songs encourage you to be honest and real in your relationship with God - he wants both our lament and our love song.

What I Need:

I am in need of $6500 to cover the costs of recording and releasing 7 songs. However, I would like to do 10 songs, which means if I reach my original goal then I can release the 2 further stretch goals ($8k & $10k), which will allow me to record 3 more songs.

All funds received will go towards the making of the album and any funds over the stretch goals will mean I can give away albums, pay my musicians more and continue writing and recording into the future.

The funding will go to: 

• PRODUCING - I  have a wonderful producer who will help me prepare and arrange the songs and who will also look after the recording and mixing process
• MASTERING - Each song will be professionally mastered
• MUSICIANS - I want to generously reward the musicians who will be using their talents on the album
• PHYSICAL COPIES OF CD's - I am planning on printing 500 hard copy CD's
• DESIGN & PHOTOGRAPHY - I want to hire a photographer and graphic designer to create the visual aspects of the Album. I will also be taking pictures throughout the process and creating some prints for the perks
• PERKS - It will cost a small amount to cover the cost of sending the perks to you
• LAUNCH PARTY - I will have a fabulous listening party to celebrate the Album release

I think the biggest challenge has already been overcome, as I am doing this after 5 years of procrastinating and insecurity.

• Co-ordinating the availability and schedules of myself, my musicians and my producer.
• Finding a fabulous Graphic Designer and Photographer to work with me on the project.
• Connecting with a great CD printing company to produce the hard copies.
• Organising and arranging the distribution of both the digital and physical copies.
• Organising the launch party.
• Reaching the stretch goals of $8k (2 more songs) and then $10k (2 more songs) equalling 10 songs for the album.
