Hummingsong: singing for good
Hummingsong Community Choirs enrich the lives of women through music.
Our annual concerts are a special celebration of our community - those incredible singers that comprise the six Hummingsong choirs. Some of us haven't sung since our school days while others have sung all their lives. We come from diverse backgrounds, professions and bring varied life experiences. Yet, bonded by music and friendship, we become a community.
Our choristers are dedicated not only to their music, but also to actively helping women and children escaping domestic violence. Since 2012 Hummingsong Choirs have raised over $120 000 to support women’s refuges across Sydney.
On September 23 we will present SONGS & STRINGS, a warm, soul-nourishing performance showcasing our choirs, individually and en masse, together with the incredibly talented Sydney Grammar String Sextet.
It will be the highlight of our 2018 season.
Funds donated to this campaign will be used to cover the majority of the cost of mounting SONGS & STRINGS so that ticket sales can be used to help women and their families find a place to live, access the health care they often desperately need and find employment or further their education. Everyone who buys a ticket to the concert will have personally contributed to making the world a safer place for some of the most vulnerable in our society.
SONGS & STRINGS will be our major fundraising platform to support the Women’s Community Shelter's Outreach program. $20,000 equates to 500 hours of outreach support for 35 women over six months. When it seems a woman in Australia is killed in her home almost daily, this intervention is both vital and timely.
Your donation is helping to fund this major event, and you are directly supporting the enrichment of women in our community, through the uplifting power of music and fellowship.
Thank you for your generous support!
