Hey Day Butter
I'm very proud to represent SA, I believe in home grown, local suppliers and I love being a part of the community - It's hugely important to me and my amazing family. As a result of my recent television experience I have people coming up to me on the street, and messaging me online, asking 'What are you doing next?'
I've come up with a great idea.
These days when you walk through the supermarket dairy section, there's a lot of discounted low quality products, the supermarket's own branded dairy. It made me wonder why we aren't giving our local Dairy Farmers and suppliers a fair go? Hey Day Butter is delicious, partly because I'm using the best cream from Fleurieu Milk Company with no gelatine or preservatives. The Jersey and Holstein Friesian cows are Grass Fed year round, cows are supposed to eat grass, not grain or a processed diet so these cows produce cream that tastes how it should and has some great health benefits too. Did you know grass fed dairy is higher in omega-3 fats than grain fed dairy? Butter has been proven to be BETTER for you than margarine and other vegetable oil based spreads. Health benefits include; Being a rich source of easily absorbed Vitamin A (good for keeping the endocrine system in top shape), is rich in trace minerals and CLA which is a beneficial fatty acid (type of fat) named conjugated linoleic acid (there are a wide variety of health benefits, including immune and inflammatory system support, improved bone mass, improved blood sugar regulation, reduced body fat, reduced risk of heart attack, and maintenance of lean body mass.)
My love of cooking has led me to a successful TV series shown in Australia and around the world that showcases the best home cooks in the country. My love of butter started when I was in my teens, I had grown up on a butter substitute but I didn't like the flavour. I always sprinkled extra salt on my butter and fresh bread and as an avid home cook and through practising on the cooking show, I learnt how to make my own Butter at home.
I like mine salty - how do you like yours?
I was so excited to hand craft a delicious Butter that I started playing around with flavours to enhance my cooking. I didn't realise how much butter I use on a daily basis (I must be part French I thought, oui?) The authentic nature of hand crafting butter means that it takes more time, there is more skill involved, plus a lot of love.
Im Butter obsessed, I'm building an SA owned and operated brand and I need your help to get started.

How The Funds Will Be Used
I need your help to produce my first commercial batch of Hey Day Butter. I will sell this at Adelaide Central Markets, The Market Shed and Plant 4 Bowden Markets. Stockists include IGA Gilbert Street, IGA Plant 4 Bowden, The Nourish'd Kitchen in Magill and Goodies & Grains.
My budget is;

Stretch goal is $12,800 as it would be be great to cover initial testing in a commercial kitchen $1500, the Butter I am donating to a Long Lunch to help fight homelessness $300, and $1000 to help with the cost of complying with all nutritional information and compliance with food safety.
The Challenges
I'm using organic and SA locally sourced ingredients where I can and it costs more to make a healthy product that's good for you.
Hey Day is my baby but whilst I have a overwhelming and positive support network, I don't have a money tree growing in Mum and Dad's back yard. I have spent over $6000 of my own savings to get started and now I need your help for the next stage to be successful.
The cost to manufacture a handchurned and cultured butter is more than money, this art takes time, and time in a commercial kitchen then costs money.
I have 4 stockists and it is a challenge to get stock out to as many retailers as possible with a artesian product.
Competing with the major chains is going to be hard. I am doing my best to get Hey Day Butter in the 3 major chains by June 2017.
My main challenges are financial, I need funds to make my first commercial batch of butter. Then I need to convince consumers to pay more money for a healthier, more delicious product. That's where clever Marketing comes in and building awareness. I am striving to promote Hey Day Butter to its maximum potential and to the best of my ability. I would be very grateful for your assistance and support.
