In March 2018, Scott Doolan, a 29 year old from Newcastle NSW is attempting to become the first paraplegic to climb 18,192ft to Mt Everest Base Camp with minimal assistance.

Scott lost the use of his legs when he was 17 in a motorcycle accident and is now inspired to make this epic mission to challenge himself and inspire others

13 months ago, a group of Newcastle guys had an idea to start a company that would take inspirational people on APEX adventures to build awareness for mental health and overcoming adversity. The idea was to create a clothing range to fund projects that could give opportunities to people who have gone through adversity and work with them to create a new path in their journey in life.

To make this mission happen, they need to raise $70,000 to fund this trip and create a documentary with Scott to raise awareness for mental health and overcoming adversity. We're looking to raise $20,000 through crowd funding to help.

It is hoped that this will start a new chapter for Scott to be able to go on tour and speak about his journey and inspire others to rise about doubt and stimulate others to move forward in their lives in a positive way.

Scott Doolan, @wheelyfit said, “My first thought was no way, impossible, I can't do that. However after thinking about it and talking it through with the team, I thought why not, what better way to challenge myself and influence others to rise above doubt than to climb the biggest mountain in the world. The thought of being the first paraplegic to wheel up Mt Everest with minimal assistance will be a dream come true, achieving something that seems almost impossible is what defines someone willing to give everything they have and truly access the power of the mind. I believe that is something you will cherish for the rest of your life and I hope to inspire others to #riseabovedoubt.”

Matt Laycock and Tommy Leung, founders of Apexgen, said "We started Apexgen because we had a vision to create a community of individuals who inspire, support and care for each other, whilst battling the rapidly growing problem of mental health issues. All of our founders have experienced adversity and mental health issues of our own. With more and more people around us struggling in the dark and not believing in themselves, we saw the value in uniting strong, driven and motivated individuals to stand together and make a change. To come from a very dark place to transform into believing in being limitless seems impossible to people who are struggling, but we are set out to show it isn't.

To show as many people as possible that a small group of people uniting can help facilitate opportunities to make dreams come true is what motivates us all to make this happen.”
