We have launched this campaign as we want to bottle our amazing "Green Sauce" so you can take a little bit of Brazilian Bites home with you to spice up your next BBQ! 

A bit about Brazilian Bites:

Brazilian Bites is one of Melbourne's newest Food Trucks that sells authentic Brazilian BBQ.

The menu is inspired by the street food vendors of Brazil. At the centre piece of the menu are succulent charcoal grilled beef, chicken, and chicken and bacon skewers, served alongside scrumptious chilli buttered corn on the cob, and unique handmade cheese, chicken and vegetarian bites. The skewers are served on a bed of mixed salad and topped with our famous “Green Sauce”, a devilishly delicous lime based sauce akin to an aioli. Not a day goes by without someone asking us if they can buy our sauce. Which is how this campaign began.

A bit about us and why we want to do this:

In 2008, I, Aldo (owner of Brazilian Bites), made the big move to Australia with my Melbourne born wife, Lea. I wanted desperately to bring with me a piece of my first home and to share the delicious flavours of Brazilian BBQ with the people here. I have been fortunate enough to have already traded at so many events on the Melbourne calendar, and I hope that by making my products more readily available (instead of always having to come and find us on the road), that we will be able to branch out even further. I want my food and the flavours of my home town to be accessible to every one. 

Brazilian Green Sauce and why I love it!

My "Green Sauce", is something I am incredibly passionate about. When I first arrived here, after leaving my entire family back in Brazil, it was one of the things that I missed the most. Every Sunday, my family would have a BBQ and any friend or neighbour could just drop by whenever they wanted to. There was a permanent game of soccer on the mini "field" that we had created in our back yard, and the meat would just keep coming, all day. Every week, no matter what meat was served or what accompanied that meat, we would have green sauce. Loads of it. And I always covered my meat in it. To the point that it was more like having a little bit of meat with my sauce, as opposed to the other way around. I loved that sauce, and I missed it so much when I left home.

After a lot of phone calls to my Mum back in Brazil, and a lot of trial and error, I finally managed to perfect the sauce myself. It's my version, different to the one that my mother makes as nothing will ever be as good as when your Mum makes it, but it's delicious! Not surprisingly, our customers seem to have developed a simliar affection to it as I have. They want it. They need it. They come and find us on the side of the road just to have a fix of the famous "Green Sauce". So it seemed inevitable that we would have to try to find a way to offer it, even when we aren't on the road. 

Unfortunately these things take time and money, neither of which we have! Enter the wonderful concept that is crowdfunding...

As we don't have the facilities to make the sauce ourselves, we will be starting from scratch. The funds will be allocated to the following:

- Developing and fine tuning the sauce with a contract manufacturer including deciding how best to produce it to keep it as close to the original quality as possible. Then actually making it!

- Sourcing and purchasing packaging.

- Having a label designed that will relfect the existing truck and business.

- Printing the labels.

- As our only commercial kitchen is our food truck, we will also need to source storage for the sauce once produced.

- Creating and hosting a website for online orders.

- Marketing.

- Temporarily hiring an assistant to help with the initial excess workload after the Pozible launch.

These are the basic costs and we will be doing everything on an absolute budget. The more we raise, the more sauce we can produce and the further we can take our marketing. The long term plan would be to also try to get our product into a supermarket. 

Our biggest challenge is going to be getting our product out there. While we intend on obviously selling the product from the truck and handing out flyers with every meal to help promote the selling of the sauce, we will need to do more than just that. 

Our aim is to have a presence at farmers' markets and craft markets as well as to talk local produce stores into stocking the product for us too. We also intend on having a strong marketing campaign, including sending out press releases and having a big launch that we would invite press to as well. 

Perhaps the biggest challenge will be having the time and resources to be able to keep up with orders/demands. At the moment it is just my wife and I that run this business, we don't have staff/PA's or anything that even remotely resembles those things. Between preparing all our food fresh to sell on the road, keeping up with the administration and marketing, social media and looking after two children (4yrs old and 8 months old), our time is pretty tight. We intend on hiring a staff member/assistant to help keep up with the demand after the Pozible launch.
