Cassie is 17 years old, and her father is dying of cancer. Somehow Cassie must find the words to say goodbye – but how can she do this without revealing who she really is? Would he still love her if he knew the truth... that she’s not the sweet little girl he thinks she is?

Alongside the painfully important issue of childhood grief, this award-winning play tackles some of the most pressing issues facing young people today, with humour and sensitivity.

As if school pressures, cyber scandals and friendships gone wrong are not enough to deal with, Cassie must face all of this while her world is turned upside down by cancer.

Then again, if she can find the courage, it might just be the making of her.

How The Funds Will Be Used

This is an ambitious show and whilst there are many other areas to be covered, we need this Pozible funding to ensure we present a polished production that connects audiences with the story in every way. The money we raise will contribute towards ...

  • Creating and installing the set
  • Hiring lights and other tech equipment
  • Rehearsal and development expenses
  • Marketing the show
  • Sharing this production with new audiences (TBC)

The Challenges

The biggest challenge with mounting a production of this scale is sourcing funds to pay all our artists to professional industry standards. Alongside this Pozible campaign, we have secured support from our presenting partners as well as arts grants and philanthropic sponsorship.

We want to ensure we are able to present a production with the highest attainable values. This campaign will fund production and rehearsal costs.

The other major challenge we face is getting bums on seats. DreamBIG Children's Festival offers a great program and kicks off shortly after Adelaide's peak festival season in February/March. We have partnered with established producers Brink Productions to ensure the greatest reach possible.

With your support we hope to make this production of Gone Viral a polished, memorable and affecting work of contemporary theatre.
