This is a very personal project to me, as I hope to fulfil a dream originally envisaged by my grandmother(whom I never met).

In 1950 she wrote the synopsis for a full-length stage ballet, along with full costume and set designs.

The ballet is an original narrative set in Bendigo in the Gold rush era.
It tells the story of 2 young immigrants coming to Australia to seek their fortune. Along the way they are tempted by many worldly allures but are saved from a destructive fate by the warnings of the Australian fauna and flora.

I have begun work on the creation of a section of the ballet with a newly commisioned score, choreography & costumes made from the original designs.

This section has been filmed onstage, showing its potential as a stage production. This has been an entirely self funded project. 

My hope now is to gain support from the wider community so I can move to the second stage of development. My aim is now to create a new, completely contrasting section of the ballet showing the lures of evil on the young couple as they face the beguiling reptiles. This means new composition, choregraphy, dancers and costumes.

At this point in time I think audiences would be keen to see an all Australian ballet, telling a part of our history.

 I have put a target of $750, which is only a portion of the budget. However I feel this target is accessable and can be easily reached by joining together as a community.
