In Motion is Chris Foster Trio's debut album recording of 11 of his original compositions!

In 2021, Chris was the recipient of a grant from the Department of Local Government, Sport, and Cultural Industries (DLGSC) for the In Motion project. One of the conditions of the grant was that a minimum of 20% of the project had to be funded by alternate means.  One of these alternate means is this crowd-funding platform.

In Motion brings together the cream of Chris’s unique jazz compositions, carefully selected by himself.  The compositions range from fiery and fast to reflective and soulful with captivating improvisations played by Chris on each piece. The music has been recorded and is being prepared for online (digital) release in October and vinyl release in early 2023. 

This campaign is your opportunity to secure a digital copy and/or your own copy of the limited edition vinyl record while at the same time, assisting Chris in funding this final production stage of the In Motion project.

The digital version of the In Motion album will be launched at a live performance on October 26th, 2022, at The Ellington Jazz Club, Perth WA.  As well as Chris on piano, the performance will feature renowned jazz musicians Nick Abbey on bass and Daniel Susnjar on drums.

Vinyl production worldwide has exploded in recent years with an average production time of 16-20 weeks. Once funded through the pre-purchase of the records via this campaign, Chris will be able give the go head for vinyl production to begin.  

If you pre-purchase the vinyl you will be notified well in advance of the date and venue of the live vinyl launch performance.  You will be able to attend this unique, one-off event and collect your freshly pressed vinyl record in person. There will also be an opportunity for you to collect your vinyl record at a 'Pick-up Picnic' in Hyde Park once the records arrive in early 2023.

The music is now ready... all that remains is to fund the production of the vinyl records!

A typical run of 200 vinyl records can cost between $3500-$4500 depending on how many of the various options are included.

The 200 limited edition vinyl records of In Motion will cost a little over $4000 to produce.  Just $1500, a small but important amount of money raised through this pre-order campaign will allow Chris to progress with ordering the records. 

As mentioned, as well as this crowd funding, Chris will be using some of the DLGSC grant funding and further alternate means, such as income generated from performances to fully cover the costs. 

Chris hopes that generous music fans will help him to get the In Motion project over the line, while also being able to enjoy the fine music he has created both now and into the future.
