"Chance" is a short film based around the idea that when an event takes place, it might not just be by chance; but by fate. This film is being created as part of a JMC Academy assessment.

The film follows the life of Dan (18) and his family, and the tragedy that comes with one specific date, ‘May 15.’ Following the death of their sister Jessie on her 21st birthday, Dan’s family is once again about to lose another loved one. Fearing that his last hurtful words towards his Mother could be the last he ever says, Dan races to the hospital to make sure he can fix the void within there relationship before it’s to late. With all three brothers at the hospital, their mothers final words will hurt more than anticipated as he comes to a chilling realisation.

This film’s style is closely reflective of mysterious shows like Vampire Diaries and Teen Wolf, minus the Vampires or Wolves. The inspiration for this Film came from a personal connection to the story. It was based loosely around a series of events that took place on all the same day, just years apart. Below are a few shots of the tone for "Chance" to give you insight into the vision for our film.

The productions budget is primarily focused on the following elements. Production design, catering, transportation and the purchase of specialised equipment. Production design is a major contributor to the mood and emotional tone of the film. It's the silent element that brings each scene, visually alive. Providing the funds needed for production design will greatly help us in our journey to make 'Chance' happen.

Catering is also another important element when making a film as it helps keep the cast and crew feeling refreshed and energised. Providing the funds for catering will help ensure that our cast and crew will perform at their very best! 

Transportation is another big part of our budget. This is because we have several different locations throughout our film and we need to be able to transport crew to and from set safely and on time! 

The Director and DOP have unique visions for the overall look of the film. To make there vision come to life we wish to hire a stabliser. Not only will this heighten our production value, it will also captivate the audience giving them an incredible cinematic experience. We also require hard-drives to backup footage and audio each day and for our editor use as we enter post-production.

The challenge that we face is raising the money to make this film. As it is a student film, it’s often not seen as important to donate. But as anyone would know, there’s only so much you can do without a cashflow. Having this money donated would mean that we are able to hire out the extra gear we need, make sure that our crew are fed for the 3 day shoot, and allow for production design to visually create a masterpiece. But we're always up for a challenge and can't wait to show you this film!
